Decisions, decisions, decisions... (new car options)
Looking for a new daily driver. I am going to throw some options out there. In no particular order.
I am 32 so not too worried about a stiff drive .. (at least not for the next few years ) 2013 M5 2013 GT-R 2013 Porsche Carrera S 2007-9 Porsche Turbo Anyways, what would you do? If its not on this list feel free to mention it! Only regulation. 100k or less. PS I understand this is the m5 forum but try and not be biased. |

All awesome cars that are so very different. It depends on who you are and the statement you want to make or just your taste in a car.
This is just in my personal opinion...to each is own. GTR- Sick awesome car. Fast and impressive, but Japanese, stiff noisy ride, no room, pure sports car plain and simple. Will always turn heads and attract lots of attention. '13 Carrera- Gorgeous and more refined than its predecessor. Very expensive once you start putting options together. Pure sports car, imaginary back seats, stiff ride, ugly interior, no room. Turbo- See above, but...it's a AWD and turbo. M5- Beautiful interior, lots of cool tech, refinement, awesome trans, very fast, roomy, comfortable when necessary, or rougher when necessary, either way thats a option you control. Blends in, yet exclusive to those whom are enthusiasts. Good luck with your decision. I'm very happy with mine thus far. |

Wait, first we must be clear. If one of these are your daily driver, what is your weekend/track car?
All of these you have listed also qualify as a weekend/track only car as well.

I would pick in the following order
GTR (Autocar or Top Gear did a compare with M5 and they said GTR spanked M5) 911 Turbo 911 M5 But if you have children or planning in a year or two then M5 is the only choice. |

dean_g,
What are your dimensions? I'm 6' 2" and tall from the waste up. I can tell you that the M5 won out over the Porsche offerings for me when I was running my list earlier this year because of that. The GTR was actually in the lead and until I started considering the approach angle for my drive way and the road transitions in the region of the country I live in. [I cannot stand to hear the sound of the front end or skip plate hit the ground.] Thus the M5 was my choice. |

I also considered the GTR, but the looks and quality are just not for me. Both are awesome cars and have very similar performance numbers.(GTR being a killer from launch, M5 being a killer from higher speeds) Two completely different monsters. What he said, you should also consider the e92 m3, I must say these cars just have to much power for every day driving. Or you could get an m5 for your DD and a 911. Try fitting 4 Girls in your GTR

I've had 3 of the cars on the list. GTR, M5 and 997 TT. All awesome cars!
As it states in above replies comparing the M5 to the others is really apples to oranges. For a daily driver the M5 is my first choice. Very comfortable. The GTR and 997TT are not comfortable for daily driving in my opinion. The best analogy in comparing the GTR and 997TT would be digital verse analog. GTR is somewhat less interactive experience but is a better performer stock verse stock. |

I purchased the M5 because I need a family car for kids to come. I couldn't squeeze the kids into a GTR or Porsche. The M5 I could put car seats in, and drive around in comfort mode with wife and kids happy, can take visiting family out comfortably. The M5 was 2 cars in one for me. Sports car, and family car. All others listed are sports cars. Just my 2 cents fwiw.
