I think around $4k you will have some options. Most likely a one piece wheel since the three piece wheels run more - but if the roads are that bad your better off with a one piece monoblock wheel.

Since you already have tires and TPMS you can save on that cost which would be like $2000 additional.

MORR, Modulare, HRE, ADV1 unfortunately would not be options for that price point though.

I had ordered a set of 19" (exact spec to the oem 345) and they didn't clear the front brake caliper. Luckily, I got all my money back because I had written that onto my sales invoice as Forgeline guaranteed fitment or full money back.

Therefore, if you want to order a set, you will need to go 20 or higher.

You can get into a three pice forged wheel at or below 4k but they won't be concave unless you go with a forged monoblock...

The finish looked really good but too bad never had the chance to show them off. The best looking finish would be 'Transparent Smoke', imo.

http://www.forgeline.com/products/ac...lock-finishes/

If you are thinking of Forgeline GA1R 20", better consult directly with Forgeline before putting any money down. These wheels have a (kind of) deep concave built and it's the inner barrel that may cause some issue with clearance.

Even if you deal with other wheels shop or online, try to make sure and request in writing on invoice that if they don't fit, you are entitled for full refund. Lots of wheel shops out there simply sell you wheels and it may not be their interest to ask and check the fitment issue for you.

Nice ... do I need to take out a second mortgage on my house to get them ?

I would think $9-10K for the set (without tires of course)

Ok cool thanks, my buddy has an account with them. But I want a one peace forged wheel in a 20" might have to check around. But I thought forged line wheel in a bronze color on a MCB would look insane lowered a some KWs.

^ obviously, finish is totally a personal taste.

btw, I also prefer monobloc forged wheel as well. Otherwise, HRE would be a very good choice as well. Lots of pics in this forum.

My guess is the wheels will go for $9000 - $9500.00.

hi guys,

i m new in this forum. Expecting to pick up my Monte Carlo blue M5 next week and now looking for wheels and exhaust for it.

Whats the best choice of wheels in terms of lightness and toughness? After reading thru all the posts, i still hav difficulties becoz not all brands provide weights and load rate...

How much you looking to spend? It's best to stick with name brand wheels such as BBS, VOLK, HRE.

Make sure the wheel is VIA/JWL or TUV certified. If it's not certified, then move on. It's not worth the risk.

Also if youre worried about strength, pick a forged monoblock over a three piece wheel.

Thx aus & Patrick.

Because I plan to track my M5 frequently (if time allows) as well as street use, then I need some wheels which offer high level of rigidity as well as lightness (just like most owners here I presume ).

Besides forgeline which provides GA1R with 2100 lbs load rate and other weight info., I cannot find similar info. on VOLK racing, HRE or even BBS (weight of wheels I see but not load rate). This is why I am a bit lost...

I know about BBS RI-D being the lightest and toughest, but have they made either 19' or 20" for F10M5yet?

before going to this end of the scale, really wanna know more detail spec. on VOLK and HRE wheels in terms of load rate and weights for a better decision.

Does anyone know how to find out?

THXXX

It's a good general rule, but keep in mind that a poorly designed forged wheel is still a piss poor wheel, while a well designed cast wheel can be very strong and relatively light. Just look at the APEX wheels as an example. It's cast, but as light as a VOLK wheel and JWL/VIA tested.

.
Slowcars, can't help you with that but if the wheel is made by BBS and VOLK and for this car, it'll be fine.
