Looking at the MMR for both, seems like the sample size of 14' are more higher mileage cars. That and the much bigger sample of 15's really affects the auction estimates.

I'd wager a low mileage 14' would pull similar money to the 15' with avg miles.

Any chance you could run updated MY13 numbers as well?

I've been seeing cargurus price trends show them increasing in price over the last 30ish days. I'm also in the process of considering trading my 13 in and snagging a used i8.

You got it!

MMR states suggested retail on 2013 MY is $41,300, or 37,600 to 45,100.

Actually I see one of the 14s I’m looking at on this list. How should I feel about a 3.9 condition?

I'd say go look at it. 3.9 to me means avg wear and tear.

Keep in mind these are dealer auction values. Typically add 10-15% for retail. With that said, without knowing all the specs on your wife's car, I'd say you might be a bit high. The aftermarket parts won't add value (in some cases take away). You're usually better off selling those parts, and putting it back to stock.

NOOB questions:
Estimated retail value is the price the consumer is expected to pay? vs the auction value which is how much the dealers paid?

Is there a way a consumer to get the auction price? "I know a guy who knows a guy"?

interesting data that last year ave mi is higher than this year ave mi (I would expect this year to be higher b/c cars are a year older. Given the large sample size, that's kind of an anomaly).

Correct, est retail is what you'd expect to pay walking into a dealer, and auction is what dealers are buying them for.

If you have a buddy, or know someone at a particular dealer, I'm sure they can hook you up . I unfortunately do not... Just armed with the MMR, which is why I am happy to share!
