Tesla model S is awesome for sure.
Just imagine it getting that kind of performance and a 300 miles range while only costing you $5 USD to fill a full tank(in US).
Oh did I mention it only takes 1 hour to charge full?

I'd like to see somebody that knows how to really drive a car compare these again.

I bet the Tesla forums are a mad house right now.

umm this is the most biased race I've probably ever seen. Did anyone else notice how much wheel spin the car got going into second. At least put a half decent driver behind the wheel of the M5...

It does not seem as if both cars launched at the same time. In this case, it is a meaningless test...

You know you bring up a great point, engine noise. To us gearheads we like the engine noise and the deep rumble. One day electric car companies will make up noises that imitate a V8.

It all come down to the launch. In the race they showed the Tesla clearly has the better launch. So if the M5 had a better launch the result would be the opposite. After all, he did say the Tesla was faster "2 out of 3"

Hmm, that's funny, which of the two cars in this drag race already has fake engine noises that imitate a V8?

Tesla only meets specs with a fresh charge. The more you drive, the slower it gets. Remember, the electricity has to come from somewhere, so electric cars are only as carbon free as the grid they charge off of.

The M5 sounded like a 6MT so there's the reason they didn't use launch control.
DCT would've turned the outcome towards M5's favour!

Why is it that so many videos I see M5 vs whatever, the driver of the m5 never seems to know how use launch control. Or select better modes when running from a dig so you can get better traction?!

When I read that Tesla was offering a supercharger for their cars, I though "Sweet, a high performance electrical car!" Then, I found out that it was actually just a charger that can charge the batteries faster

m5 starts about a half second after the tesla is obviously launching.

Really? Who cares who won? Two totally different cars. Tune the M5 and it's no contest. I think the only point is that an electric car can be fast... And of course, on a BMW forum, who is going to prefer the Tesla?
