Anyone remember Audi' AD "Never follow", well BMW should AD that say "Leader in performance and around track".
Caddy is good, but always a follower, they wait for other brands to put their car on market then lastley theirs so they can be close or marginally equal to competition. |

Second reputable mag claiming a sub 4 second 0-100 km/h time.
Nice to read the M5's the quickest to 100 and also the quickest to 0.

If it did, that would be great but I too would like to know what people may be reading that suggest the 6GC will have better performance when the weight and engine are going to be the same as the 5er/M5.

I've just never understood the visceral CTS-V hate here. The 2009-2012 V is still an awesome car for the money and it beats the E60 M5 (it's competitor at introduction) in virtually every performance category.
Moreover, as I've posted before, the 6.2L Supercharged V8 LSA in the CTS-V can easily be tweaked by GM to exceed the output of the M5 S63Tu engine. The version of the LSA in the 2012 Chevy Camaro ZL1 is already good for 580hp and 556 lb-ft of torque. Is the CTS-V as well made as the F10 M5? No. Is the CTS-V as advanced as the F10 M5? No. Is the CTS-V as elegant looking inside and out as the F10 M5? No. Still, the CTS-V is an absolutely stellar achievement for a bankrupt automotive company that went into its existing parts bin and somehow put together a World beater. I've now got my name on the list for a new M5 and I will be trading in my CTS-V when my time comes, but I've enjoyed my year and a half with my CTS-V and I'm glad I purchased it. There are things that bother me about my V (not least, the wrong kind of attention it attracts from 17 year-old street racers) but if BMW hadn't come through with a car as objectively good as the F10 M5, I would have happily driven my CTS-V for another two years. The F10 M5 is the undisputed champion at the moment, but we should be magnanimous in victory toward the challenger that did more than any other car to force BMW to swing for the fences. |

I think bang for the buck the CTS-V is prob unmatched.
But its not a BMW and as you stated above it attracts a different type of attention. For an American buyer wanting to support an American company though I think its fantastic. I think Caddy's in the past have been the ultimate old man car and unfortunately that "persona" is hard to change. Its happening but its taking time. Kinda like now if you see a 18 year old kid with an E60 M5 he's prob a drug dealer Last edited by sparkyg; 03-15-2012 at 12:12 PM.. |

you guys really dont like the cts-v huh?....i love my coupe...great car...sure the M5 is really nice....and i could have one for the price of almost 2 cts-v cars....as far as the power dispute goes yes stock for stock the new f10 is more powerful...aftermarket for aftermarket you would be remiss to think the M5 can make more power against an LS engine period. Too much R&D by shops for YEARS that have done TT kits or bigger SCs like im getting....like I said...f10 = great car....ill just stick to my caddy

GTR and 911 turbo s Jeep SRT8 and X6M there is no doubt that CTS-V, GTR and SRT8 are great cars, But the others(gtr, turbo s, x6m, m5) are better, Last edited by BMW0412; 03-16-2012 at 12:35 AM.. |

Using your logic, why not omit the M5 which is about 35 grand more expensive than the CTS-V and give the caddy the win? |

Not many cross shop the Panamera Turbo S ($100K more than an M5 so you could buy two M5s and a track rat) but people will cross shop the CTS-V and M5. It is was more like $20K difference if that- CTS-V is around $67k and the M5 has been around $85k. GM is lucky to share development costs with the Corvette keeping the Vs a good value.

you wish for that result. Look at autobild times for CTS-V and F10 M5 and see if that would be a close race. you posted video of a member unable to launch his M5 properly against a modded CTS-V. Look at comments on ytube. CTS-V gets passed up top by E60 M5. Look at what F10 M5 did to E60 M5 to see what would happen with a competent driver. One other thing. F10 M5 can also be modded too. |
