Pulled over for front window tints

Folks, have you ever been pulled over for front window tints? Thankfully, I didn't get a ticket, just a warning. My front windows are pretty light - think they're at 40 or 45% and a lot of people have tints around here, wonder why the M5 was singled out :-/

Probably because cops get bored pulling over Hondas and Toyotas all day, so when the chance arrives to flag down an M5 they take it. At least it's just a warning, seems like he/she was cool (other than slowing you down on your way).

Yeah, the officer was cool. I did some more analysis later on and it might be coz the rear window curtains were up. With tints and curtains together, the rear windows get quite dark. So, I guessed maybe it was just that he wasn't able to see inside the car. Since then, I've pulled down the rear window curtains.

Probably for your tints.
I have 15% and the curtains up and yeah i get pulled over a few times, never any tickets.

Be careful. Local police in Chicago impounded my car for having front side Windows tinted. This happened when I was 19 and couldn't believe it when they started taking my stuff out of the car. Had to pay $1k to get my car out.

In Florida and most other places it's a secondary offense and they cannot pull you over simply for your tints. You need to be speeding or be in violation of something else and then they tack on the tints.

That's crazy they impounded the car just for tints.

Yep. Got a no front plate ticket and a tint ticket back to back within 48hrs. Black on black is a target for cops here in ca.

The no front plate ticket should usually be a once in 5 years type of event. I'm yet to see any 100K+ car on the road with a front license plate.

correct it tickets
try opening your sunroof it tends to make your tint look lighter
chip especially hardass

Thanks, that's a good tip, while try to keep the sunroof open more. I tend to forget it even exists, stupidly assume that there's a CF roof sitting above my head.

Getting pulled over for tint in any state or getting a ticket for tint is lame. That is one law that is so damn debatable because each state has its own interpretation. Michigan is the only state with no tint law.

Agree. I do believe that they generally have a lot of other things to take care of, so, for the most part, don't bother with this. It is usually a once in a while event.

As far as "correctable" tickets go in California:

A police officer — for "fix-it" tickets (this means any officer for windows tints fix-it tickets)
The DMV — for driver's license and car registration violations
A court clerk — for proof of car insurance at the time of citation and for driver's license and car registration violations

Not entirely true. Any tint can be used on the driver and passenger windows, but only in a 4 inch band across the top. Same on the windscreen. All other windows do not have restrictions.
