Updating software

Hi I'm picking up my M5 at the swept in 2 days. Question is - do I need to update any software on it or will it already come with the latest software? Asking because if it won't, I would like to download whatever updates are needed and take with me on a flash drive.

Also where do you download these updates from? I'm logged into my BMW account online and can't see it.

Only dealerships can download and update software.

Your car should be delivered with the most up to date versions.

What was the cost to have the dealer do the update?

You can download the media software updates from bmw.com/update. Just put in the last 7 of your VIN and it will allow you to download the latest updates if any. As far as complete system updates, I believe only BMW dealerships can update (or some coders). The last dealership I went to speak to they said they won't do any updates unless there is something causing a system to fail.

Thank you. I just checked. There are no applicable updates to my VIN.

Depends on the dealership, in VA (Newport News) it was about $120ish.
