Need better brakes (without spending a fortune on big brake kit)

Any ideas on what I can do to improve the brakes? I had a search and can't really find anything and I don't want to go down the route of brembos or ccb.

You already have very large Brembo brakes stock on the M5. In my opinion the only improvement would be to buy the VERY expensive CCB rotors and calipers from the parts department. They weren't an option when I bought my M5 or I would have taken a deep breath and gotten them.

Didn't realise they were brembos tbh. They are getting very poor, maybe new pads might help

Maybe try some stainless steel brake lines.

How would stainless steel brake lines improve performance over the stock lines ?

Less expansion in the lines means better feel at the pedal with SS lines. You also might want to try a higher quality brake fluid and track pads. For OEM they are going for the highest performance at the lowest maintenance. This is significantly different from the highest performance alone. Racing fluid will need to be changed much more often to maintain performance, track pads will have more noise, dust and wear quicker, but will be less affected by heat in high stress applications.

The breaks are awesome and for them to stop a 4300lb vehicle in such a short distance (not including the weight of the passengers) is astounding. Unfortunately the car's breaking performance is limited due to the weight. Pads are covered under warranty and if you want less fade the best option would be the CCB's which BMW does offer through their accessories division. Tires also make a huge difference in breaking performance. Low tread life will impact the breaking distance and if you're not running the PSS tires, that may just be the culprit. Not sure how those pirellis hold up but I'm aware of people liking the PSS's a lot more. Heat is another big factor and if you're tracking it somewhere warm it may also be a contributing factor thus making the CCB's a viable solution. Hope this helps
