Would you go with your local dealer or out of state to order M5 ?
Guys would you go ahead with your local dealer if he quoted you $750 more than the out of state dealer which is like 6 hrs drive away ? Both have immediate allocation for this month.
The out of state dealer might give additional $250 discount making a $1000 difference. Should I go ahead with my local dealer even if he is $750-$1000 more or make a 6 hrs drive to collect the car from the out of state dealer ? Thanks,

Well that's ~$80/hr plus gas- thinking if this is your next car your time is worth more to you. Also can't hurt to buy and service in same place.

out of state and do PCD. well worth it. also, if you do PCD you may be able to work them down some more. no prep needed at the dealership and no salesman spending 2 hours going over the car with you.
PCD of an M car will be one of the top ten days of your life. |

I would go out of state because of the principle. I don't like dealers taking advantage just because they are local.
Give the local guy a take it or leave it offer, and tell him you have an alternative so you don't care if he takes the offer or not.

I would call the local dealer and ask him/her to split the difference and pay $500 more. I think that's reasonable amount to keep your business local and build/maintain the relationship. Remember you also have the costs of getting to the other dealer (i.e. bus, train, flight) as well as the time invested traveling both ways.

I already tried that and the local dealers last offer is $750 more.

$1000 dollars isnt worth the inconvenience. Unless you're doing PCD, stay local. Now Im flying 3000 miles in one direction then another 800 miles in another direction... but Im doing it for a $15k discount.... thats worth the travel. $1000..... just isnt worth the extra bs and the local dealer knows it.

get it from the dealer thats cheaper, i would spend up to 500 bucks to have it delivered to your house and service it at the local dealer that won't budge on price, just on principal alone. They are selling you the same product, one isn't better than the other so why pay more.

I doubt that your local dealer will budge on price. He probably smells a deal and it maybe the philosophy of the dealership to hang tough . It will come down to how important the money is to you versus your time.

Nonsense on me. They lost out on my sale now and in the future. I am glad it happened because the dealer I got the car from and CA are so good on service. The local dealer also lost out on four other M5 sales. I am sure the owner would be happy to know he lost $500k in revenue. |

Definitely don't feel pressured to buy and service at same dealer. Bmw na pays dealers handsomely for service rendered on new cars, so they know what side the bread is buttered on. In my experience the two sides of the dealership are pretty disconnected.
I agree w others, if your time is not as valuable as the savings, go out of state. |

Also, service dept is a separate profit center from sales, your local svc mgr would be very pleased to service your vehicle. |
