Bang & Olufsen Lighted Speakers
Found the same problem, it's all in the Idrive to adjust, was told that it's only for non US delevey...I agree...doing it over..would not pay the money for the BO system...

I don't know why they would make it so different from the 6. All the grilles are lit instead of just the center tweeter and it does give a calming, cool effect when they are on.

The audio quality is greatly improved, which is why I am happy to have it. Is it the ultimate sound system, no, but hacking apart the electronics to go aftermarket wasn't a desire for me in this car.

Also, I have already encountered the baffling buzzing noise that comes from the center speaker on the B&O when it plays certain frequencies. It seems very inconsistent. It will happen on a certain song, but then I play the song over again and it doesn't happen again. Weird. I know Bang & Olufsen and BMW have no fix for this. It really doesn't bother me though. I don't feel that it really interferes with my music listening pleasure, but I'm a little vexed at paying SO much money for the system that has a known unsolvable defect. I didn't know about it before I ordered it either, it's just not a very talked about subject. Overall, I am happy with the B&O though and it's cool seeing the look on my friends faces when ever the center speaker rises so elegantly. Reminds me of the effect that the Active Side Bolsters on the E60 M5 used to have on my friends. Lol!

M5 B & O Lights
I just purchased a 2013 M5 with the B & O upgrade. Three of my speakers light up, the tweeter on the dash and the two in the upper part of the front doors. The rest of them.... don't light.... I read where the 6 or 7 series they do and someone responded that their M5 on the tweeter lights so I'm just telling you that 3 of mine light up.... but.... I really wished they all did..... the Owners Manual for the M5 says they all light up??????????

The light is super subtle.
Anyone saying the B&O option isn't worth it is deaf. It hands down blows away aftermarket setups I've had and heard. If you can't afford the option you should probably be looking at a different class of vehicle. |
