That is really nasty! The damage is bad enough, but I'd like to learn the situation you were in. If you were stopped at an intersection, waiting to turn possibly, and the semi is doing his wide arc turn around the corner, I can't imagine a worse feeling than to be trapped and watching this happen in slow motion at 5 miles an hour! I'd be surprised if it's total,...that's an easy fix for a shop,...you will not be able to tell the incident occurred. With no damage to the sub area(s), a good shop will be able to make repairs to the 'nth" tolerance. That is,..if you want to keep the car.

On another point,..the TT Driver has caused your car's value to take a hit,..as this accident will surely come up on Carfax. It's not enough to just have high line cars repaired these days and calling it a day! As the original owner, I'd consider a law suit against the carrier for causing accelerated reduced value of the car.

Edit: Perhaps the compensation for accelerated reduced value should be 50-75% of the total repair costs,...plus compensation for your time of having to deal with the issue!

Thanks yes it is surreal sitting there and watching the gullotine coming at you in slow mo. I was stopped at an intersection and he turned right from the left lane...apparently he didn't see me.....
The body shop indicated there are structurally elements on the inner core that parts aren't available for as BMW consider them non repairable. That crease is pretty deep and all the inside covers popped off and the window opening is deeply dented...the trailer first impacted the c pillar and then turned along the whole side ....pretty surreal.
The rims are 20" HRE P44SC in brushed titanium.....if she is totalled they will be looking for a new home....
I'll keep you posted and will be engaging a lawyer as KBB isn't going to cut it.....I have OCD and that car is perfect inside and out.....(was)

Can't say that I wouldn't be interested in picking up what's left of it, aside from the rims.

Damage seems time-consuming but not horrible by any means. Literally any repair cost over 5k deems a car "totaled" now, even if it can go for north of 30.....

If it got the roof as well, they will total it. Most will only repair so many major body panels before they will just total the car. Check the diminished value laws in your state as you might be owed if they decide to fix your car. Also semi claims are notorius for dragging out their claims process for months. You may be better off filing your own ins and letting them deal with the subrogation and getting their money and your deductible back it if you dont want an attorney.

Brief update....initial body shop,estimate is @40% based on surface inspection. Adjuster to visit the car Monday. Currently she is all wrapped up with crash film to keep the elements out. New doors and complete side section from A pillar to tail lights so far. Obviously I will be pursuing diminished value claim if they put her back together. Seen online about a $10k drop for car with accident damage..........
