dealer pick up check list

Hello eveyone, picking her up this week. Sooo excited! Any advice on dealer pick up check list. I understand the straight forward stuff like check for dings, scratches, etc. Also, need to get BMW assist set up and front licnese plate holder installed. Any other tips pertaining to M cars specifically?

I wouldn't have them install the plate holder better off getting the one which screws into the tow hook mount

It's a lease. They will have it back in 3 years.

Still it's removeable if you don't want to run it all the time. Just my opinion

I would love to. You are right. But I live in CA and it's mandatory.

If that is the case, don't worry about a check list. Just enjoy the car!

Good to know. Thanks.

Until today, I never thought about front license plate issue. The car looks sooo much better without it. On the other hand I don't like tickets. Hmmmmmmm

Pretty sure there are others on here in CA who don't run the front plate all the time.

Can you explain what you mean by not all the time. This is not a track car, just commute and around town transpiration. Isn't it a PIA to Velcro it on and off all the time????

I think they only put it on when parked on the street or something when it's sitting and easy prey for a ticket.

Start a thread for front plate in CA and you should get some feedback

Just my experience: I have my M6 for 7 months and never put front license plate. I had my previous 650 for 4 months without front license plate. both car flashy because of the color or tint window.
I have never seen cups pull over these kind of cars for front license plate, but if they pull you over for something else like speeding, then the front license plate can be an issue in top of that ticket.
Again this is just my experience and I live in OC and not LA!

Check for: mobility kit, first aid kit, full tool kit (no empty spot inside the trunk case), spare key, smokers kit (one in each rear door and one in the middle of the front seats, wheel anti theft key, mats (four of them), leather portfolio with service booklet, owners instructions and guarantee. Enjoy.

Thank you so much! Is smokers kit an option or does it come with every M5?

There is no first aid kit or warning triangle for us delivery cars, I had to take mine at ED because they are removed for transport. Perhaps some peoples snuck through. Wheel locks are not standard either, usually a dealer gift.

I think it has to do with shipping rules, first aid kit might be flammable. The warning triangle they should def give us.

I think it just comes down to cost. I believe that, in Europe, the safety triangle is required. Here in the US it isn't, so they don't ship it.

Honestly, you can pick up a first aid kit for the trunk that is much better than anything BMW would include, for much cheaper.

Besides, have you ever broken down and said to yourself, "if only I had that warning triangle in my trunk"?
