Buying CPO Outside of Your Area?

I'm looking to move from my 2013 M5 to a 2015 with comp pack & B&O. Dealers I've checked seem to be priced higher than other states (I'm in PA). Curious to know your experiences for those of you who bought a CPO out of state and had it shipped.

I've done this twice. The first time, the car exploded 6 months in and BMW NA bought it back. Second time has been flawless

Had I been able to inspect the first car before delivery, I'd have never been in that position...

Bought a CPO from California and shipped to NC - no problems what so ever. My local SA reviewed service history & options and everything appeared in order...

anything specific you are concerned about?

Mostly concerned about what Darkshear mentioned about the 1st one that was bought back. I'm trying to avoid a nightmare like that. Ideally I'd prefer to buy local (within 100 miles). I found a gem of a car with full service history and drives like it just came off the assembly line. The former owner is friendly with everyone at the dealership, and both the salesman and GM were adament on how the car was babied. Checking the information in iDrive it showed an average of 17.9 mpg over the last 6,000 miles, which confirmed the way they say its been driven. The only problem is the asking price, which is a little over $66k. Trying to get them down a few thousand resulted in $400 knocked off. Casting a wider net outside of my area shows comparable 2015s, same color in and out, ranging from ~$58k to ~$61k, thus my question.

My example is extreme and very unlikely to happen to you.

I know when buying this car, you don't always get to pick your dealer or state where you get it from--the struggle is real. My first one came from Palm Beach, second one came from Texas.

You could have your local dealer reach out to the dealer that has the car you want and try to do a dealer transfer. That's how I did my second one. BMW of Beaumont TX sold the car to my dealer, and I completed the purchase from my local dealer. Didn't impact the price as Beaumont was okay with the trade. It's at the GM's discretion of course. But I do enjoy having the benefits of having bought "local".

It's pretty common knowledge around my area the dealer is overpriced so forced me to look elsewhere. CPO cars are transferable so found the one I wanted with history, color, options, mileage & price and took about a week to arrive cross country. Most M5 owners that I know here in CLT did the same and don't appear to have any issues...

I found a CPO 30 miles from me (Pennsylvania). I took a drive over to the dealer this morning and found that they don't have the car, and was advised that its in transit from down south. They said it has yet to be inspected and put through the CPO process. In the meantime I've been checking out the VIN, which shows this was bought at an auction in NC last week. In researching the VIN I was able to pull the CArfax, which shows 4 prior owners, and was for sale across multiple dealers since last summer prior to being auctioned the other day. Price history is reasonable so I can't imagine why it sat for so long unless there are issues. It was most-recently at Hendrick BMW in NC since mid-April, and prior to that was at Westgate Imports. 2015 alpine white with comp pack and CF interior. The pics I did find shows Eisenmann tips (Google cache), but was told the car has the M performance exhaust. Anyone by chance see this and know why it sat for sol long? VIN # WBSFV9C56FD594353.
