It's simple , first off no one ran DP's on a stock 335 tune . Secondly the ECU is a literally a 100 times more advanced than the 335 , receiving 1000's of input signals per second from the DSC , MDM , differential , AFR's , intake temps , charge temp , EGT's etc and optimizing them in real time to meet its target values . Catless DP's make it impossible to achieve its targets in certain situations due to a drastic reduction in back pressure that could never exist in a stock car thus the CEL and limp modes . The S63 TU pisses on the N54 and N55 in every way technically and structurally . Once the ECU is fully decoded it will be a fantastic tuning platform .

Probably but until we get some true tuning and the speed limiter off the cars handicapped.

At this point would you even bother running downpipes without a tune? sounds dangerous

I would not , but do I think any damage will be done ? No, that's why the limp mode is kicking in to protect the engine . I think w/o a tune a good high flow catted DP is the way to go . I'll be installing the Supersprint catted with 200 cell HJS cats in a month . 90 % of the gains and 0% of the headaches .

I guess I'm just having trouble trusting some of the products that have been released for the car, and maybe thats a by-product of being an early adopter of this new tech, but damn did I (and do I) have faith in the products for the n54 I had, The S85 I had :/

Has anyone tried the iPE 200Cell DP's yet? I know the system is available for the F10, have seen the videos of it on youtube, but I haven't seen a review of it yet. The price is the same as the AMS catted dp's.

No disrespect, but how do you figure that a 4400 lb car running 11's is handicapped?

Running low 11's. I'm going this weekend to the track with my 21's. I was doing 11'6's Easy. Gonna lower the tire pressure a bit cuz it will be 45 degrees and spool the turbos up at launch. Should hit low 11's.

Because I race 600whp evo's... Maybe if you're older and just take it to the track/ Drag strip it's the perf car. But I was hoping for more modding ability given how long its been out.

We don't need to do the whole (its a luxo cruiser why race evos, why race at all go to the track, its not meant for that thing) just incase it was going there lol

I'd also hit higher speeds daily in my 335i and BPM tuned M3 so when I'm stuck at 155 its a drag even if the car was running 8s

Just because you race 600 whp modded Evos doesn't mean that a stock 4400 with 560 crank hp, running 11's is handicapped.
If you want a strict track car get a 911 and mod it. We buy m5's for other reasons and still take them to the track. None of the m5 enthusiasts is hoping to break world records, but we do it because we like to enjoy these cars on every day commute and weekend track warrior.
Age has nothing to do with how you view autosport and how much appreciation yo have for the brand.
Maybe this picture will tell you how old I am. This was a car I built from 2000-2005, ended with a 2.3 stroker with a GT42r running 45 psi, tuned be aem ems.

I don't judge how anyone uses their m5, yet oddly I'm being judged...I was simply saying I had hopped for more from the aftermarket at this point in the cars life.I'm well aware of everything you said (oh and I tried to get a gt3 but due to availability amount of time waiting for a single allocation spot made it not worth the effort).

I have plenty of brand appriciation... Probably the reason I've been in 5 bmws since April of 2011 and actually 7 if you included siblings since march of 11'

I got the ams downpipes installed recently and here is some quick comments. The location for the o2 sensor is horrible should be closer to oem location, and fitment is alright not the greatest. The car sounds awesome and the turbo spool up is just hot sounding. I was scared at first to go full throttle because the farts are just so loud and scare the shit out of people lol. I can deff tell i got more tq and Hp in the midrange but will be doing another set of dynos shortly to prove it.
