Squeaky Brakes

Hey Guys,

Was driving my M5 home from work today and as I came to a stop at a traffic light my brakes started squeaking like I was in my Saab 9000. I called BMW to see if my pads needed to be changed by they claimed they should be good for a few thousand more miles. It wouldn't be a big deal if this didn't happen every-time I came to a stop but it does, then people look at me like what kinda POS are you driving around that makes that kinda noise. So has anyone else dealt with this and is their an easier way then going to BMW having them test drive it, say nothings wrong and get into an argument ?

Can't help you with the squeaking brake pads. Have you talked with user "M5Blood"? He's in your area, and by an amazing coincidence, has the exact same set of cars as you do. Like you, he very recently joined the forum (he about 10 days ago, you just today).

You both have the same dealer (Princeton), and he wrote quite a bit about the M5 that he "owned" over the last couple of days. For some strange reason, he's disappeared entirely from the forum the last few days, probably insulted by all the users that called him a lying troll after he asked about buying an M3 (his 6th BMW) for his 16 year old son. Or was it 17 year old? I was looking forward to pics of his M5, but his 15-year-old brother apparently dropped his iPhone in a puddle and ruined all the pics. Not to worry, he was going to borrow a phone from his girlfriend, just before trading in his wife's X1 for a second 435.

Drop him a PM, he may be able to help you. Sounds like you have much in common, probably the perfect person to hook up with in your local area to talk about your unique perspectives on M5 ownership, not to mention the 435, X1, and older M3.

Oh, and I love the M5. Any chance you're going to post a few pics of your ride? Love to see them next to your other BMWs, especially a family shot with the M3, 435, and the X1. Thanks. That's a really special collection, I'm willing to bet you have the most unique family of BMWs of anyone here on the forum. Such a picture would be epic.

I had the same brake problem for a year. Changed pads and rotors and nothing worked. Finally our service manager called the factory and they replaced something with the front brakes. The brakes have been perfect for 6 months.

Have your service advisor call Dave Hansen at BMW of Murray in Salt Lake City to find out what the fix was. Good luck.

I had this after 1 week of driving the new car with only 100 miles on the clock. it was every time I crept to a standstill. decided to do a vigorous break-in sesh and get them hot and it never did it again... 900 miles on the clock and no sound.

It comes and goes and BMW just drove it and said they couldn't replicate it. Not a big deal, if people at stoplights don't like it, too bad. I'm just not going to get worked up about it if there is nothing wrong.

Some people, no respect.

Great pics! Though, I never recall you saying you had an M6. And it's a GC! That's probably my very favorite, all-time BMW. That's really impressive, too. I don't know why you left that detail out of all your prior posts, you couldn't keep me from sharing that exceptional car with others. You really have a lot of restraint, which I admire.

But, I'm confused? Above, you said your squeaky brake problem was fixed, but its posted from a different account, with the name "wrsbmw"? And that account says you live in Texas?

I did enjoy your M5 pic from that thread, though. Here it is. You sure killed a lot of bugs on that extended run in the middle of the road at 157mph.

So, you have TWO M5s? And you live part time in New Jersey, and part time in Texas? I'm quite envious. Do you commute in the M5 between, or just leave one in each state? I confess, I would probably drive the M6 Gran Coupe instead. Nothing against the M5, but the M6 is just so sleek.

And, I'm finding it hard to keep track of your amazing collection. Help me here. You said you currently own the following:

2013 F10 ///M5 Space Grey on Black
2010 E92 ///M3 Frozen Grey on Red
2013 E84 X1 ///M-Sport Mineral Grey Metallic on Beige
2014 F32 435 ///M-Sport Black on Red
1997 Saab 9000 Turbo Black on Black
E60 M5
and of course, the Black M6 Gran Coupe in the pics, above.

(guilty admisssion: am I the only one that thinks the Saab 9000 is the ugly duckling in that group? Something about it seems out of place. Of all your cars, I find it most difficult to believe that you ACTUALLY own a 1997 Saab. I'm sorry, but that detail is just stretching your credibility a bit too far.)

Astonishing. How could you not have blessed us with your ownership experiences with so many amazing BMWs over the last year, having just joined the forum yesterday. Or maybe last year, under the username "wrsbmw".

wrsbmw isn't me, we have extremely similar names my name being William, middle initial J and last name starts with an S hence the WJSM5. I live in central NJ, and commute to Princeton daily.

Its actually Imperial Blue. Not a huge fan of black. A friend of mine knew how much of a BMW nut I am, and encouraged me to join the forum. But with these kind of member's who need proof of everything, seems like more of a burden then something that will benefit my love for BMW. Didn't come on the forum to brag about my money or my cars. Thats why I try not to list the cars I have, people get offended by this.

I'm down with that. I don't have the maturity you do to not tell people about *all* of my cars. I can understand why you wouldn't want to list the M6 Gran Coupe in your signature, or the older E60 M5. The cars you do list are understated, and with just the 5 you list below, people won't be offended. I agree 100% that putting the M6 Gran Coupe and the E60 M5 in that list would cross the threshold to poor taste such that someone (not me, of course) would take offense.
