Why are my brakes so abrupt?

Is this normal?

As I come to a stop, I'm holding STEADY brake pressure. Right before the car comes to a complete stop, it ABRUPTLY stops. No matter what I do to come to a silky smooth stop the car will abruptly stop! Every time.

It will brake smoothly but at the very last second it's like I hammered the brake. Trying to inch my car forward into the garage is hilarious. I roll at snails pace and apply some brake only to NOSE dive!

My pads are fine, My rotors are not glazed. Yet my car does this.

This is a rude ass car. It's jerky at take off. It cracks/pops when shifting gears sometimes, the brakes like to snap your head forward. The brakes squeal sometimes too. Rude rude rude car! Lol.

ANyone else experiencing abrupt brake coming to a stop?

Its driving me crazy that I cant come to a stop while holding STEADY and constant pressure on the brakes without my car applying some kind of brake booster at the last second and slamming my passengers heads forward.

My dealer keeps telling me my brakes are fine, but fully agree its doing this.

You brake by lifting off the gas first... try driving in S2 for the shifter and down shift while lifting off the gas slowly not all the way and that will help you brake better using engine braking an transmission, applying the brakes should be the last thing to do to come to a complete stop.

Not sure.. if your dealer says its normal, get another M5 owner to drive your car.

I believe the abrupt stop feeling is due to the DCT disengaging 1st gear. If brake pressure remains the same when car comes out of gear (and creep mode) then it feels like you suddenly stabbed the brakes. All this is " normal" I'm told.

Mine lock up even when in neutral. It's like a brake booster is over compensating at the very last second.

I'll try another dealer.

Its normal, what are your settings? When I drive in efficient mode I dont feel it but when I drive in S3 MDM and Sport / Sport Plus i feel that abrupt stop. Driven three M5s and all do it.

My wife would always beat me up saying I dont know how to brake,.

No it is not normal. These cars stop just like any other car. If your car does that then you should have it looked at.

Mine abruptly brakes regardless of what mode I'm in.

I'm going to just take it to another dealership this week.

I so look forward to it braking normally. I look like an idiot pulling into parking spots and my passengers keep getting jolted.

I'll have to see if I can make a video of it. I know you'd totally see the abruptness of it on a G Force meter though.

Thanks for giving me hope it's not normal!

Naw something clearly is wrong. Hopefully they can fix it. If any tech tells you it's normal they should get fired. It should come to a smooth stop.
