Switch to 12mm spacers all around from 12f/10r?
I'm considering switching from my Macht Schnell 12f/10r spacers to 12mm all around, should I do it? Primary concern is the safety of 10mm rears, secondary is the better look of the 12's. What do you all recommend?

I had ordered the MS 12f/10r and changed to 12 all around after reading about potential issues with the 10mm and someone on this forum having an issue with the 10mm spacers regarding the the lip being shorter. I just didn't want to take a chance. I have the same rims and I don't think I would be able to see a 2mm difference, but I like the look and have had no problems with rubbing, buzzing, shaking, etc... I put up bad iPhone pics in the "Random M5 pic thread" Post #921 page 42.

Thanks bronch that's been my concern as well - lip being shorter and the safety risk that accompanies it. Going to switch out the 10s.

10's are dangerous on our cars. I will find my old thread for you guys.

Thanks, towards the tail end of your thread, what did the folks over at EAS have to say about the 10mm spacers? I have a pair of Macht Schnell 12mm spacers that I can switch out the rears with. The front spacers are already 12mm MS. The bothersome question is - given your experience with the quality of MS 10mm spacers, is Macht Schnell the brand to use or should I buy something else?

Thanks. Any other brand recommendations for quality spacers for our M5s? Everyone on here, at the time, seemed to be installing the Macht Schnells.

Ran H&R 12.5mm all around before I swapped to custom wheels. No issues.

I am running 15mm renn motorsport spacers in the rear and I am very happy. Got them from sonic tuning.

If you are already happy with 12f, then 12f/15r makes you more happy.
You won't have any rubbing issue since I have seen members here have switched 343M M5 with 343M M6 while the M6 one has ET 19 but the M5 one has ET 34 which is 15mm difference. You may be also interested to see this link: http://www.burgertuning.com/BMW_wheel_spacers.html

No I have not used them since I don't want to change the dynamic of my car. Even the 305 tires (that I have right now) has changed that dynamic which is not noticeable for many people, but if you are willing to make the look more aggressive, then those 15 mm spacers will do it for you

With everyone doing spacers with 10mm/12mm, I need extended bolts.
Is a bolt M4x1.25 with a 33mm or 35mm shank enough? The stock bolt measures 24-25mm (thread length).... |
