One last step before buying a DREAM
Hello all,
I have been on this forum and m5board for years, but never registered because of not having an M5. Its my dream car of all my life! I worked hard and now I am able to buy my Dream. I have a very important question for you guys and I hope you will help me out here. I am willing to buy the M5 from USA because EU way more expensive and with 100% tax in my country its nightmare. Question: 1. Is it possible to retrofit the instrument cluster to EU standard with Kilometers? I want to see 330KM 2. Is it possible to change aircon system soft to show Celsius not fahrenheit? Best regards HappyMan |

So how much is it to import it? The import tax/tariffs are significantly less?

My dealer made me sign a non-export agreement as part of the sale of my M5 and X5. I think it will be difficult if not impossible to find a dealer willing to sell you the car for export.

You should be able to purchase a euro spec instrument cluster. It would need to be a complete swap.
Celsius on the temp gauge is as simple as changing a setting on the iDrive menu.

What do you think about ride quality of f10 m5 CP compared to e60 m5 stock? Really liking the comp pack, but afraid of it being maybe to stiff for our crappy roads. I have driven e60 m5 so i am just curious. |

I think second hand should work fine. Also, I don't think you'd need to change the instrument cluster - most likely you can code the region to it. EDIT: never mind - I forgot about the printed numbers being in mph..

I believe the M5 based on GPS location will change from miles per hour to kilometers per hour. So if I take my car from the US to Canada it automatically switches.

buy a Canadian version car. It's in km.
Have you checked the factory warranty ? Would BMW honor it ? Once you factored in currency exchange, import duties & taxes, shipping & insurance, is it still worth it to import one ? |
