Yea this is what I was getting at - was just curious wat ype of discount %-wise? It was easy reading on the forum here what to expect when it came time to buy the M5.

I really dont know as I bought my Turbo used with 5,000 miles on it and had no desire to bargain for a new 991. So I guess you would have better information asking Coldlist because he bought 3? 991s over the last year or so.

I think that is a subjective judgment. The M5 is a luxury racer with good sport features and I think it's probably giving more for the money. The 911 has a cachet that the M5 doesn't and it also has real sport car feel. So I can see buying one in addition to the M5 but I wouldn't get it instead because I value the room and the luxury of the M5. That being said, I will add 991 Turbo S to my garage if things work out that way.

True it has awesome techonology but the m5 is not far behind. just performance to luxury I do not see why the 911CS is worth the same or more than an M5. SURE it is pure sports car I would love to have it but same price and more than an M5 I do not see it as a major upgrade unless its a turbo OR gts or TURBO S. But I would love to have a 911CS but pay more than m5 for it. its looks are great though |

Well done, and yes they are the perfect combo! I've had my 991S for a year, and my 2015 GT3 will be here in November. Love the NA motor revving to 9000 RPM. Can't wait, and congrats on the move!

Short Video of M5 beating the 911C2S(991)
Surprising it won with that wide of margin. But I love the looks of the 911 more to be honest. Lucky you have both cars |

" An M car is an everyday car with the ability to drive it on the track. A 911 is a track car, with the ability to drive it everyday" At least that seriously makes sense to the higher level 911s. So that is why it cost more. Porsche cars are not for everyone. It is only for those who are wise enough to understand a P-car. Not saying you are not wise, but it takes time for people to get to that level. Me personally I drove a 991 C4S and hated it. Spent another 2 days just thinking about it, and the more I thought the more I wanted to try it again. The more I tried it, the more I realized what it was all about. Ended up buying an older p-car, and then traded both the older P-car and the M5 for a Turbo. Now that car, is faster than the M5, handles better, and for me at least, is practical. Not that I drive it everyday, but not like a baby it around once a week either. Not saying the M5 is a bad car, it is a different car and the two should not be compared. It just goes to a personal level of what you want from a car. Do you want great control of your car, great acceleration, sound, looks, and want a car to reward you like no other... 911. Or do you want a fast straight line car, that is controlled, but feels numb in order to achieve luxury and more space.... M5

This is how you solve it. With this! I actually find the porsche to be such a well made car that I'm trading in the M5 for a Macan Turbo to go with my cabriolet. I've been with BMW since 1989, but the porsche...well it's just a porsche and it handles like a dream and fits like a glove. Jeff Last edited by jlee; 05-20-2014 at 08:51 PM.. |

Thanks.. I really wanted a true manual tranny. My Porsche salesman told me that Porsche only makes the manual in roughly 20% of the 911's.

I just need a more balanced DD for the winter, I was stuck at home several days during moderate snow events in January and February and I hated it. I know winter tires could cure some of it, but during wet or cold weather the traction control comes on way too often. So I wanted a little more ground clearance, AWD, but the feel of rwd, and a DCT. The macan is the only car that fits that bill. Jeff |
