Any tips for daily driving a Dinan (or other tune)?

It just feels like too much torque for a RWD daily driver with these tire sizes.

Well, if its no fun to drive because of concerns of car control then...

1. stickier rear tires
2. turn on granny mode (not car, in your driving style....also no fun)
3. get your refund.

Your comments have me thinking, because I am planning on a flash tune and I'm on oem Pzeros, which I've heard are less sticky than the mpss.....

Full story is that I had Dinan Stage 1 installed yesterday and now any hard acceleration (whether WOT or not) causes the car to fishtail. Prior to the Dinan, I sometimes had issues with traction, but nothing at all like this. My tires are OEM Michelin (7/7/6 front depth and 8/8/8 rear depth). Even going WOT in 3rd yesterday on an on ramp had me trying to go sideways with full traction control on.

Any suggestions on how to drive the car without killing myself? I'm considering asking for a refund within my 3-day refund period and just looking forward to AWD Ms.
I would say go with a 305/30/20 on the back. It helped my street traction immensely...and I primarily drive in S3 / DSC-Off. There are guys on here succesfully driving these cars with gobs more torque than the Dinan offers.

Well if you think your dinan makes your car fishtail thenyou don't wants full tune. But just quit having a heavy foot this is what I'm getting from your post. I think you'll be fine. Just adjust your right foot

Finding the limits of traction can be frightening and fun
I would give yourself some time to re-acclimate yourself with the vehicle. More time spent at that limit will result in more smiles and less soiled shorts. Local track events or even an auto cross will help speed that process. New rubber will help (I put 305's in the rear) but I think a day or two testing limits on a track will do wonders. Be safe and enjoy!

Or
315/30/20 R888. Thats the only thing will hold that

Or Nto5 or Nto5R also.

If you're going sideways with traction control on in 3rd gear, then something is wrong with the suspension/alignment or tires. This car is not that torquey.

Edit: wow! Sorry thought I was on m3post

With the V8 you never have this issue.

Nevermind the above of course

Only option is wider/stickier tires, or milder software. You can also try dropping tire pressure or a different suspension setup/alignment.

Haha....nothing like changing up from 4th to 5th at triple digits and watching the T/C light flash.

After a couple of days of playing with it, I don't have nearly the problems that I did in the original post. I can keep total control in S3, and D3 isn't a problem if I use Sport throttle response instead of Sport Plus (although perhaps the latter will be usable once I figure out appropriate gas pedal pressures).

I'm going to keep the tune. I think the people in this thread were correct -- I just needed to get used to it. After all, you can't drive a 600+ ft/lb TQ car the same as a 500 one. I'm still looking forward to AWD Ms if we get them, though.

As an aside, when it's time to replace the tires, I'll definitely look into wider ones. Of course the issue there is what will fit on my stock rims. I'll have to research it.
Dinan, other piggyback, flash, tune, etc, or not, the car has more torque stock than the booty can handle all the time. Efficient Throttle keeps the power delivery between 60-80% of pedal position at all times. Sport will start at 80% up to about 5k rpm and slowly go to 100% at WOT, or immediately if you press all the way down to the stop. Sport Plus is 100% response all the time.

With this being your first high torque RWD car, start slow and work your way up (and maybe attend a car control clinic or two). If you try to experience and wrangle it from the top down, it usually doesn't have a pleasant ending.

Also, the handling will be effected going with wider tires on stock wheels. I put 305 Nitto NT05s on my rear tires and could feel the handling difference immediately. It was horrible. I went back to the stock size PSS after a couple months.

I don't have the traction issues you speak of unless the tires are cold. I typically go to the tire temperature screen during startup and wait until the tires get in to about 90+ before I do anything crazy. Maybe you should warm the tires up a little bit before you go full throttle.

Just get wider tires. Massive difference. I'm aiming for R888s after I've peeled these PZeros off for a third time.. Ha ha.

Would 315/30/20 R888s work with my current set of 265/35/20s upfront?

315's on the stock rim? I have the 343 wheels with 295's and would assume 315's would be rolling over the rim.

I made a post on this very setup. They look pretty good actually. Yes there is a slight buldge. http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1218119
