Driver restraint system malfunction, can't move seat.
Cross posting here because there is more activity here.
Was at car wash, they moved the driver seat up to vacuum, all the way up, and no it won't move. Driver restraint system malfunction. No power, heat or ventilation won't work on driver seat. At a BMW specialist now. He hooked up the scanner, but it's not communicating with my car. Seat has no power. He doesn't see anything loose, but he's removing the seat now to get a better look. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance. |

The guy that fixed it said there may be another problem, threw me a few extra fuses as well. Anyway, he was right. You know when you finally have your seat adjusted perfectly? Well, after he fixed it, I had to adjust again. I couldn't get it right. Was playing with it tonight, boom. Fuse blew again. I was going crazy with it either. Anyone have any suggestions?

Get the seat where you need it then try it to touch any of the controls for a few days, see if the fuse blows. If nothing blows, move only one motor at a time, to change the setting. Only move one at a time to see if you can narrow down which motor is causing the blown fuse. You may have a motor that is going bad overloading the fuse, but this will narrow it down and you can determine which one and have it fixed. Is everything else working ok now once the fuse is replaced?

Went back to mechanic, he double checked to make sure it was right fuse, and it wasn't. There was a 20a in there for some reason, which he replaced yesterday, but it calls for a 30a. I'm hoping that will rectify this issue.

So, she popped again, tonight. Arrrrrgh. Anyway, it popped, again when I was pressing the 1 button in the seat and it was moving back. Prior to that, I was moving the seat forward, dropped something under the seat. I moved the seat all the way forward and it was moving back...

I think I know which motor it is. It's the one that moves the top of the seat forward and back. It seem to have been locked up going backwards, I could only move it forward. Fuse popped again this morning when I was adjusting it.
What do you guys think? I'll have to change that specific motor? |

According to this schematic I was able to find http://www.oemautopartsandaccessorie...1d6a0dbdc9ea4/
Looks like the motors are on the bottom of the seat. I would pull the seat and pull the motor. Looks like it may be an easy swap. |
