I think there will be a new 6 Series Coupe eventually. Hopefully sportier, focused, smaller. I don't know about 911 competitor, etc but I think the the 3.0 CSL Hommage will be the blueprint. Tone down all the conceptual and even cartoonish elements and you get one angry looking car with true front engine-RWD proportions. Which is a real opportunity for BMW imo.

Of course there are rumours for a new Z4 coupe too so it seems a little more complicated allthough Z4 will be definitely smaller.

As for the 6 Series Gran Coupe, it will become the 8 Series Gran Coupe and all BMW will have to compete with the CLS, A7 will be the 6GT atm. I don't see a 6GC coming back to life. Maybe there is not much beef in this niche anymore so it may make sense in financial terms but the coupe at least must return.

Looks good; haven't been this genuinely excited over a concept since the Ford Raptor (now in production) and Cadillac Escala ... I'd put this in the top 3 with those.

It's BMW's Bloviation Department. They get paid by the syllable, bonus for every adjective. And rather than letting a picture take the place of 1000 words, they show you the picture and describe it in 2,000 words.

Every new BMW is accompanied by thousands of words of description, all of which are hyperbolic, and none of which really say anything.

If this is the new design language for BMW's interior going forward, then I would say it's about time. BMWs interior design is in dire need of a redesign

Quelle belle surprise!

I was not expecting this. I must say that I am delighted to see original and daring design elements on the outside although the interior is still very restrained.

I hope they carry through The details to the final car.

Agree to agree.

I agree although I would choose to benchmark the AMG GT (drama) and perhaps the new Panamera (function details).

That is very true. Change is inevitable and essential to continuation and survival.

I don't agree with everything that BMW has put out recently but I see real signs of them reconnecting with thier heritage while trying to ensure they stay on track for the very different future.

Thank you. People that want a BMW go kart are looking in the wrong place. As an SL63 owner myself I'm not looking for a track car if I'm shopping for an M8. I want something fast and luxurious that rides well, looks edgy and sounds great. It seems to be ticking all the boxes so far!

I agree. I don't like the upside-down kidneys of this one and the X2. Kidneys with an 'A' shape look too sad and aggressive. Instead kidneys with a V shape look more pleasant to the eye!! Car front ends look better if they are V shaped than A shaped.

I hope someone does a render putting the kidneys correctly.

As I said in prior threads, it may very well be longer than a 6 Series, but probably just slightly. Also, while it will obviously be built on CLAR, it won't have a 7 Series Li wheelbase and won't have a V12 (at least not as standard, possibly not even at launch, and maybe - probably is my guess - never). It's not going to weigh as much as a 760Li, it's going to weigh about what a 650i does - possibly a bit more, but possibly less depending on use of CFRP and other weight saving measures.

As expected it's actually based on the 5 Series... So basically a new 6 according to the technical base, the dimensions, and logically the engine options, meaning probably no V12... A 6 rebadged into 8 due to the striking exterior design and exclusive interior, but not a true successor to the original flagship V12 8 Series...

So many mixed messages. They want it priced above the 7er, including the 760i, but it can't hold a V12?

Also, isn't the G 5er chassis now based on the 7er? So by deductive reasoning, if the G 7 can hold a V12, shouldn't the G 5 and therefore the 8er? And a V12 should fit in the same spot as an I6, especially if a V8 also fits (proving the width of a 90° V is there.

So after getting used to the design and its features, this is how it sums up for me as for this concept;

- Exterior: I really like most of the design, but, the side profile, looks to much like a Vanquish. Not that this is bad thing obviously, but you could mistake this car for a AM looking at the profile. I wish it was more original..more BMW-esque. Other than that i love it.

- Interior: This interior although it probably is very solid with nice materials...looks like shit. I love this "waterfall" effect on the console flowing to the center stack, but in this case it was poorly executed. Looks like a car from the 2000s but with nice materials..seems like someone didnt like the standard radio, and slapped a better one in place.. Look at the AMG-GT, or the new panamera for that matter, and you can see how pre-historical this interior looks..Instead of controlling everything from the infotainment, there are separate knobs for suspension, exhaust, etc, further enchanting the sporty feel of the cabin. This just looks unfinished..cheap..old, and generic. Maybe if the trim wasn't carbon fibre where it is written "8 series", it would flow better with the AC/radio units above it, but even then, a VERY mediocre interior.

- This car is shorter (As some figures suggest) than the 6er..so why call it the 8er? To charge more? Only reason i can think of. This would be a great replacement for the 6er, but not the 8er.

Overall i think theres alot of potential in here..finally a BMW that's pushing the design off from this generic and boring trend that we've seen for a couple generations, and especially this Gxx. I Hope BMW keeps pushing it and being more aggressive and proactive in this matter. Lets see what the production form turns out into. Shmee mentioned that it is basically this.

And please stop with those press releases written by middle life crisis people.

Agree with all the others who have said the grille needs to be redone. It looks like something Cadillac would do -- just way too much overdone chrome.

I also think the interior is okay for today's market, but will look extremely dated in comparison to other cars in this class in about 2 years. Take a look at what Audi is doing with the Prologue and Q8 concepts or the Porsche Mission E. The industry is moving to more, and also larger screens.

About the grille. I think it'd look much better with conventional grilles design, instead of the upside-down approach like the BMW X2.

Quick proposal. Left one is better drawn. I hope someone with good photoshop skills can make a render.
