Pedals

I'm thinking of upgrading the stock pedals. I want BMW pedals, and am thinking of getting the stainless steel ones instead of the aluminum M-Performance ones.

My reasoning is as follows:
1) The Aluminum ones look great but clash with styling of M Footrest, which would require also buying a new footrest.
2) The aluminum ones require drilling whereas the stainless steel ones involve replacing the whole pedal (no drilling or screws) which looks cleaner.
3) Because I am replacing the whole pedal, I can install a full size brake pedal (from an auto instead of the manual brake pedal).

What do you think?

I like 'em. Clean and contemporary. Wider brake pedal will facilitate left foot braking.

they look nice but aren't those E60 pedals? will they fit? I also do not like the look of the M performance ones, and the baseline ones are bland.

BMW website offers them for non M F10. So should fit f10M too.

For pedals on the M5.. the first criteria it has to meet is grip, and the second criteria is appearance.
I like the M Performance Pedals that BMW released for the M5, however its clear by the photos that they just don't grip well.
So I ended up going through my parts bin and grabbed my DINAN pedals I uninstalled from my 2010 E60 M5.
I like the DINAN pedals because they grip extremely well - equal grip to the AMG pedals. They look pretty good as well.

So I just cleaned them up and then reinstalled the stop and go pedals onto my F10 M5.
I did however keep the OEM footrest as I like it, and it also closely matches the pedals I installed.

The pedals fit like a glove from my E to F M5's. It's probably safe to say that any brand SMG pedal for the E will fit the DCT F pedals. Screws are required to install the DINAN pedals, however with the design of the pedal and location of the screws, it looks fine to me. No screws would look better, but it really doesn't bother me - especially since there aren't any alternatives that meet my criteria for pedals.

What do you think? Not sure if direct replacement or drilling is required

@Goranot
I remember those from the E60 M5 days (2008-2010). It was a popular pedal replacement for the V10 M5.

The brake and throttle pedal must be drilled (simply secured with screws on top of OEM).
The dead pedals are usually a direct replacement.

EDIT: From the photo on IND's website, the dead pedal looks like it is placed on top of the OEM dead pedal.
So that means that it's either secured by (invisible to me) screws, or by using another method such as adhesive strips.

I know the stop and go pedals are drilled and screwed down. Nate from IND can give you a definite answer on the dead pedal.

Here is the page for the M5: http://www.bmwpedals.com/f10.html

I would order them from IND. Any parts up for sale on IND's website are high quality parts (hard to say the same about other sites). Also it looks like the same pedal (which probably means same quality), however IND adds the M Logo to the dead pedal- which looks better and IMO worth the $20.

Yeah well said. I deal with Nate often as well. Couldn't agree more.

LOL - that's why I installed my own. Got shorter screws which worked out better. Doubt anyone actually notices them (the pedals). The others looked a little too "stock" so these were a little different with a touch of ///M.

It's not clear if the stainless steel BMW pedals will work on the F series cars. The install guide says it is compatible with E series BMWs. The website says it is compatible with the 2012 528i, but it doesn't mention other F10 BMWs so this could be a database error or an omission. This option replaces the whole accelerator assembly so obviously compatibility is more than just size.

If that doesn't work, then am torn between M Performance pedals and BMW pedals.
