Video: BMW F10 M5 Extreme Testing Process at Miramas, France
BIMMERPOST NEWS Video: BMW F10 M5 Extreme Testing Process at Miramas, France These guys must have the best job in the world! M-Power.com has just published a new video of the F10 M5 at BMW's own racetrack in Miramas, France. BMW gives us another glimpse at the testing procedures they perform, including high speed (> 300 km/h or 190mph), launch control vs. smoky burnout, wet handling course and general performance testing. They have obviously also reworked the launch control function of the M DCT and gives us a neat demonstration. The BMW engineers are optimizing the new BMW M5 even for extreme conditions. This video documents the testing of the new BMW M5 at the test-track in Miramas, France: "Precise steering, adaptive suspension control, the M Double Clutch Transmission that shifts without interruption of traction and the Active M Differential are tested on the handling course to ensure optimal interaction. For maximal acceleration from a standing start, the BMW M5 has an improved launch control function. The torque of the high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology is made tractable in the best possible way, delivering unrivaled acceleration." BMW suggests that testing on the wet handling course shows that "the BMW M5 can be perfectly balanced with the gas pedal – whether in M Dynamic Mode of with deactivated DSC." At the same time, it "also proves its suitability for daily driving. On extreme downhill sections and winding roads, the sequential and automatic transmissions are tested for flawless function." BMW also performs endurance testin in Miramas, including top speed tests. Follow our F10 M5 coverage @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/m5/f10m5/ But enough talking, enjoy the video! We expect the F10 M5 to be unveiled in June. Stay tuned for more information! |

I don't understand why they still have to mask it after they say that its the new M5 and all. Its like giving someone a fully wrapped gift but saying whats inside before they unwrap it.

I. Love. This. Car. Wow, what a machine.
I love the little touches, like how they've integrated the chassis, powertrain and steering indicators into the black panel display...along with the //M. HOT! |

It still has 7th gear, so I'd say yes. It's up to the engine to pull through that tall overdrive gear but the E60 M5s hit 207 delimited without any other mods, I've seen this in person, and this new engine is a complete monster so I don't see why it wouldn't do better.

Completely awesome! I just wish they would stop using those ugly gray center consoles in the M cars... What's that supposed to represent?? It looks ugly, and I'd rather have a fat center console with wood/aluminum/carbon fiber trim on it for the luxury/sportiness/eye candy rather than some ugly piece. But if you get hung up on that aspect, you're missing the point of the whole car - so I won't.
It's going to be a freakin monster!
