Best laser detector/radar detector/laser jammer

What's the best single device for this purpose? I've heard Valentine V1 but thoughts?

V1 is great i have one and love it. I also have a STiR+ that will be installed in my 14 M5. V1 will go in the wife's car.

Best is very subjective. I can offer what i have learned doing my own research on RDF.

My pick would be the escort redline for windshield and STiR+ for hardwire..... Many guys do the STiR+ installed and add the V1 harwired in on the windshield for the arrows. i am just not that hard core

Windshield Mounted:
Escort Redline (newest version) $450-500
* Most sensitive
* Best range hands down
* its what you want when you do a cannonball race ext..
* In case you did not know police have radar detector detectors in their cars.... This one is Undetectable !!!!
* Con is that is can be noisy in the city because of its range, but there are some adjustments that can help

V1 - $399
* Best all around detector
* The arrows are awesome
* Not the most sensitiv
* no GPS

Escort MAX - $549 + backordered
*New - big claims very little proof
*testers have had mixed results
*detectable
* most are saying it is the new 9500xi
*firmware upgradable via online so it should get better over the next year or so
*pro that it has GPS and blocks out the same stores and sign you drive by every day so that when you hear it go off it is usually the real deal.

Escort 9500XI
* Older and was great for its time but cant compare to the above options

Hard wired
Bel STiR+ $799-850 + install
*Installed - stealth
* Best hard installed detector w/ redline like range and sensitivity
*This one is Undetectable !
*cons no rear laser detection so you will need a Laser Interceptor

Escort 9500ci
same as the above but the STiR+ has a diff team of engineers used the 9500ci as a base and improved on it to make the better STiR+. system look very similar.

Note that the 9500ci and STiR+ come with/can come with a laser jammer but it is not the best on the market. so most opt out of the included jammers and buy LI or Blinder.

You will see that most members on here run LI.

None of the windshield mounts are laser jammers.

How does the radar detector work? Does it work as camera detector or any other detector?

I have just received the Passport Max and so far it has been spot on as far as red light cameras and speed trap indications. I occasionally get radar (KA, etc.) warnings and I do see and pass what I suspect is the "unmarked" car on the Long Island Expressway generating those alerts way way ahead. Hope to test more of its functions when I go upstate or when heading south.

Hahaha...you are correct :-) Frankly I don't pay too much attention to that market because I run pretty sophisticated remote unit set ups with the Bel StiR PLUS and LI HP quads (will be running additional heads as well in the 2014 F13) in my M cars. I have a buddy who works at Cartunes and we are extremely detailed and precise with my installs so that protection is maximized and physically everything is completely stealth. Reading about the Max I am not convinced it is really all that much better but it could be. Again, not into dashboard units. I carry a 9500ix in my truck. It doesn't run over 100 mph. :-)

Can you add those ZR4 "shifters" to the Bel? I would not if you can. Severe punch through issues.

It's not better than a remote unit but it is a much better windshield unit than the 9500ix. I have a max which I use when I'm driving rental cars.

Good to know the max is stealth approved! I was gonna order one but wanted to check with you first.

Seems their production has been all screwed up on the Max though.

The key is to run it in highway mode. In Auto mode it is exhibiting similar K band ramp up issues that you see on the 9500ix in all modes.

I keep auto learn on. It's much smarter than on the 9500ix. Haven't had any issues with it.
