More likely the profit margins are too low (or uptake too low) in the UK...

Experience has taught me that BMW AG are a very 'commercial' organisation & BMW GB being on the sharp end of the business may also want to minimise their risks by not offering factory collection package.
It seems strange though as unless there are tax issues (which seems unlikely given its all eu). The profit would be greater as transport costs would less.

That would be stupid of them because European Delivery drives loyalty which in turn drives market share.

Margin effect an be offset by charging for it. In the USA Porsche for a long time charged a premium for European Delivery and people did pay. Recently they made it free.

Did M mention Dr Beasley's matte paint sealant, and how it compares with Swizzvax Opaque wax?

One thing I noticed during the tour is that they also had a lot of competitor cars in the lot - Aston Martin, Maserati, Porsche, etc. As an Aston Martin Vantage was pulling in I asked my contact why someone from M was driving the car. He said they swap cars with Aston to help them bring competitive insight to their engineering efforts. He said they drive these to help them keep M on top.

No he mentioned Swissvax but he wasn't familiar with Beasley. Maybe it's not well known in Germany. That's said he recommended their own brand products as well. He did say that for shampoo you can use anything that is ph neutral and doesn't contain waxes. It's just the sealants/waxes you have to be more careful with.

This is awesome.
The '14 M5 CP I ordered is individual paint/interior, but the pricing was completely bonkers. I got a very good deal on my initial agreement with the dealer but I have the feeling that they clawed back what they cut from the sticker price and then some when I added the individual options. At least if I can work directly with Individual, I will know exact pricing.
Too bad you didn't sneak a pic of that new X5M! I have a feeling the styling will not top the outgoing model. Still miss mine, especially in the winter.

Same way that Lewis Hamilton drove a Pagani Zonda 760RS Manual when he worked for McLaren. He also had an MP4-12C.

FWIW Michael Schumacher's daily driver was a Golf GTI when he was with Ferrari.

Don't forget that it was BMW who gave Vettel his start in F1. Back in 2006, he was under contract with the BMW Sauber F1 team as a test and development driver. In fact, when BMW Sauber F1 driver Robert Kubica got injured during a crash in the 2007 Canadian GP, Vettel substituted for him at the following event (the U.S. GP at Indianapolis). In his GP debut at Indy he became the youngest F1 driver ever to score points!

When Vettel went over to Toro Rosso in August 2007, I'm sure this is something BMW Sauber had to agree to due to his being under contract with them, etc.

I think there's a difference between what you get paid to endorse/drive and what you actually want to drive.

I would be happy to drive any marque if i was being paid enough. Sadly i am lacking F1 titles.

Yep, so if other manufacturers offer it in the UK, it has nothing to do with taxes etc

It's just simple bs on BMW's part
