Workplace worries

Hey if you worked in an office, and if you have a sick child/person to deal with you would call out....right? I mean if it were needed right.

Now if the girl who was pregos had her baby and now the pres is allowing said girl to bring baby to work...everyday...and set up a small nursery for feeding....naturally, wouldn't that rub you the wrong way?

Been seeing a lot of favoritism and workplace drama uptick lately. Starting to get tired of it.

Go adopt an infant and then ask for the same accommodations. There, now you're even.

I can see both sides of the argument.

But with that said, I still think it boils down to: be smart, have a baby at an appropriate time in your life. I get that babysitters and daycare can be expensive. Plan accordingly with your spouse. It shouldn’t be the employer’s responsibility to make sure you and your baby are pampered.

How does one see both sides? This is a workplace, not a damn daycare. I shouldn't have to listen to a baby cry, or the suckling of nipple, or the crap around her work area. It's in the middle of office. Fucking baby swing and play area and shit. Come on man.

Well then, that's the reason. She clearly sees a value in her secretary being there and doesn't want to train a new one.

Plus, and I don't know if this is the case in the GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD, but up here, employers get a tax credit for creating child care spaces for their employees...maybe....maybe there is an incentive there for the Prez.

But honestly, just keep your head down and do your job. If you were being asked to look after her kid, that's different. But you aren't. So buckle up - it isn't easy being a parent and you won't know that till you are one, and then you'll have a ton more sympathy for all the new parents out there.

We had a kid three months early and he couldn't go to daycare during flu season. So we made it work for nine months. Now that's two professionals, so it might be different in your situation.

But the heart of the matter is that it's already happened. So your only real option if it's bothering you is to leave. Complaining will only get you labeled as a prick.

I see this a lot with my employer. A nameless employee who happens to be HR recently remarried. Between her 4 kids and the new husbands 4 kids, if it snows we can expect no form of HR at work that day. In the event there is something special going on with them, we can expect 8 unruly little assholes running around the building. Unfortunately it has set a trend. Now it seems that we are constantly bombarded with employees bringing their kids in the office. It's extremely annoying. Yes I have kids, but I don't bring them to work. Our office is pretty laid back, cursing in the office has become acceptable, yet I am told to watch my mouth because kids are present. I don't take my work to schools and interrupt the classroom with cussing at contractors, so these little shits need not to interrupt my profanity with their presence.

Kids are great as long as they are someone else's and I'm not responsible for them.

Unpopular comment.

This all gets back to both parents working, it works way better when one does. Yeah, yeah that is unfair on women but ... well ... it's just easier .. it just is.

And I thought Amazon allowing dogs in the workplace was bad...

With puppies I understand both sides but at the end of the day they spread germs and trigger allergies. I can't understand this however...and if I had a newborn I wouldn't want them in an office around a million things that could make them sick.

Well...dogs is another story.
But you are correct, germs go through that place like no one's business. That little guy could easily get sick.

I dunno maybe ya'll are right, probably making a bigger deal out of this than it needs to be. More than likely it's just the fact it's my first job since being in the military and I'm kinda going on the inside. While maintaining a on the outside.

I'll put my headphones in from now on and just zone out while working.

Well... one of the benefits of working for a large corporation is that typically we don't need to deal with this. Downside is pretty much everything else.

This is weird to me. I get it if someone is in a bind. Let's say, once a quarter. If it's day after day, then I can see this getting old super quick.

Can't wait till it's acceptable to bring your baby into the battlefield.
I see it going this far. Nursing in battle is a right you know! Then when the poor kid is hurt it's the fault of you and I for letting them do it.
Let the flaming begin.....
You know that baby can transmit sickness to all that come in contact with it.
