Hey guys
I had a drivetrain malfunction a few days back and the car is in the shop now
It completely shut off on the hwy.

Looks like the problem was with the fuel pump and fuel module. Mine is a 2013 with extended warranty on it.

I would like to know how many issues have you guys have encountered with your beast. I love the car to bits and it's my baby. I am thinking of trading it in for a 2015 but want to know if the most legacy issues have been addressed with the 2015

Had same exact problem, car shut down suddenly, found fuel pump fuse blown, and error code for low pressure fuel pump. Dealer replaced low pressure fuel pump, fuel pump relay, and fuel filter. All good now and car running great.

Might be hard to guess if the 2015 are fixed. Many 2015 cars are probably under 15,000 miles. How many miles were on your car before you had a fuel pump problem? Sounds like you are above 50,000 miles?

Welcome to the club. Had this exact same thing happen on my 2013 with 10K on the clock. Stranded during rush hour in Houston, center lane on a major thoroughfare...wasn't the most popular Frozen Red M5 on that Friday morning.

Glad to see that I am not the only one who had this stupid issue, the dealer replaced the gas module and gas pump under warranty. Been driving it for a week now and no issues yet. Mines got about 40K on it. I have the extended warranty until 2018 but still worried about what may go wrong in the near future. It's not a nice feeing when you are stranded on the hwy with BMW roadside assistance an hour away.

Hey Guys,

The issue didn't go away, I spent more time at the dealership the past few weeks than at work. I had the Drivetrain Malfunction warning pop up several times after the gas module and gas pump was replaced plus had a low coolant warning as well.

I have the tow truck guy on speed dial now. Its crazy how the car decides to stall on the hwy and lose power.

Took it to a different dealer, they said it was a faulty sensor and replaced it, after 4 days i picked up the car and the warning popped up again the next day on the hwy.

I finally got a call and they informed me it was the gas pump, and i was like again????? its going to take them a few weeks as its a special order. they put in me a rental as they dont have loaners right now.

I reached out to BMW group and they got back to me, looks like i have a few options get a another extended warranty on top of my extended warranty or look at getting a 2015/2016 with some customer participation.

Would really appreciate some input.

Sorry about your troubles. I have to have my car be fairly reliable. I couldn't put up with this recurrent problem. I'd opt for 15/16. Good luck.

if the # works out to your favor for getting into a 16, then do it.

Simple logic, why do you need a headache at all when you paid $120K for the (wounded) beast

After 2 weeks at the dealership, I picked it up 2 days ago, it stalled yesterday morning. 4 incidents so far.

BMW and the dealership guaranteed that everything was fixed, in the mean while I was working on a deal with them where they offered credit on a new M5 only to find out they were loading in $30,000 negative equity from this car. I am demanding for a replacement car or a buy back now at the price I paid.
