Angry Wrecked my 3 month old M5 today

This dumbass lady stopped on the Dallas North Tollway during rush hour because she couldn’t figure out how to let a car merge and the 3 cars in front me slammed into each other. I hammered the brakes and actually got stopped in time to avoid it but the car behind me whipped around trying not hit me and sideswiped me and basically pushed me semi sideways into the car in front of me. The car that hit me kept going and didn’t even fucking stop. So basically, I have huge scrapes down the entire drivers side, a broken left side mirror and my left front bumper and left headlight assembly is demolished.

I need a recommendation for best body shop to have my baby fixed in DFW. Anybody have any recommendations or preference with body shops in the area?

I swear I've seen your ride in a North suburb of Dallas, but for privacy reasons, I'll stop there. If that was you, nice ride...

I got into an accident about 3.5 months ago with a similar damage on my front passenger bumper. I took mine to Classic BMW Collision Center in Richardson and they took care of it. They do good work, but the wait to get in is ridiculous due to all the hail damage cars. Be prepared to hear you might not be able to take your car in for about 1.5 months before they start working on it.

They took care of my M, no joy riding at all, less than a mile on my car from when I dropped it off and the work they did was great. Only bad thing, their customer service sucks and they never return your call. You essentially have to go up there to get a damn answer...

Feel free to holler at me if you see me, white M5 with Aggie plates, and I'm on Texas ///M Gruppe which has a ton of knowledge on there in regards to questions like yours...

Door and 1/4 will need paint. New bumper, headlight, repair the fender paint etc.

At least the color wil be easy to match.

God i hate idiot drivers. PM if u have any specific q's regarding repairs. You will hear alot of nonsense from alot of people who know nothing about repairs. Good luck buddy.

Give Classic BMW or BMW of Dallas a shot and see what they can do. Both have excellent body shops and have done great work.

If that's something you don't want, I've used trade secret in Plano and they've done great work and have great reviews.

Do you guys think it's important to get it fixed at a BMW Certified Collision Center? Classic and BMW of Dallas get pretty crappy reviews online and I have had several others recommended that I don't think are BMW certified. How much does this matter?

Being a certified center doesnt matter. Quite frankly its overrated. Most of them sublet the work out anyway. Reviews say alot..

I think you have a great chance at getting a fantastic repair since you live in a big metro area. Sorry this happened. If you can post pics of the restored M5 when all is well. I barely missed some A**hat yesterday who decided that a blinkerness merge from two lanes over at max sideways velocity was a good decision.

Hmm,..you may want to consult with the DOT,...they have traffic cameras,...and may have video of the incident!

Edit,..the driver that hit you most likely left the scene because of one or two of the following:

1 - May have had issues with driver's license
2 - Was in a beater car with insurance,...See #4
3 - Was in a beater car without insurance coverage
4 - Was in a beater with or without insurance and didn't give a 'fly'n F'!
5 - All of the Above!

Looks like you have no "hard crease" damage,...so no replacing side panels, etc.

What sucks is that CarFax will buy the record from the insurance company and your VIN will get reported. There won't be pics,...but the report will say something like, "Suffered $4000 worth of Damage to Front Left Corner and Side".

I know this because I bought an '08 335 Convertible from a BMW dealership,...and they had to disclose the CarFax Report to me,....and I recall it saying something to the effect of, "Vehicle suffered less than $2000 damage to rear left bumper area"! Naturally, the higher the dollar amount,...the more extensive the damage.

GL with everything.

I've always used Stuarts paint and body when ever I have had to have any type of work done on my cars. They are great to work with and definitely work on high end vehicles.

The DPS officer than responded said all the cameras in that area of the Tollway had been removed due to the construction (which was also probably a contributing factor). He said whoever hit me probably didn't have insurance or had been to happy hour or something and didn't stop, but that we will likely never figure it out. Asshole.

Doesn't really matter as far as I am concerned because the my insurance agent said it will be considered an uninsured motorist claim to repair mine which is a lower deductible.

I guess this is one positive about leasing. The accident is going to show up on a CarFax, but as long as the repair looks great, I guess the depreciation hit won't really affect me one way or another because I'll just give it back to BMW when the lease is up and let them worry about it.

The other interesting thing is I just spent $1500 having a CQuartz Finest coating done to the paint, but my insurance guy said to show the adjuster the receipt and they should cover that as well. Hoping it all goes as smoothly as possible. Taking it to the Estimator tomorrow.

As the car is a lease - check the small print of the agreement, as it might stipulate that repairs should be carried out by a BMW certified bodyshop

^^^^to the penny they will 100% cover it !!

also i would'not take it to an adjuster or ins center for them to assess damage altho you may not know they will write you a ck for alott less than should be , then when you take it to a body shop they gonna have to fight w ins for more $$$ for underlying issues that adjusters misss'd or just din't take in to acct !!

Does not need to be repaired by bmw , as long as it's fix'd properly (which you seem like the type of person that'll make sure of that esp w a 3 mo old car) the bmw lease people that look at your car will have no idea it was in an accident !

maybe trevorm3 can chime in , owning a hi end body shop im sure he has much experience w this for sure!

take to a hi-end body shop and let then call ins and have an adjuster come to them that way the shop can say this this this and ohhh under here aswell etc and get the proper $$$$ to fix!!

just my 0.02 cent's from past incidents

Neil

no offense, but why should insurance cover a coating you put on your paint?

Because I pay for good insurance and it's covered. That's why.

I've used BMW of Dallas for minor bumper repair work and to remove rock chips on my hood. Well done repair work.

any comp/collision ins.. will cover any monies spent like ceramic pro , 3m , xpel etxxx !

they will even cover the cost to rewrap the car , that's what havin comp/coliision is all about ! that's why we pay good fuq'n monies to these dick's !!

in 95 i had a maxima w about 15k worth aftermarket stereo shit in trunk , neon , hydrolixx , all sorts of stupid ting's now that i think back lol got rear ended and they gave me a separate ck for $3400 just for allleged damage done to the stuff in the trunk from the incident !

i don't see an issue atall , as long as you have paperwork you'll be reimbursed !

I second that. Stuarts does amazing work on high end cars. I had a Porsche repaired there in 1993. Still doing great work today.
