Downpipe Problem Help...
ok guys, had my dp's installed today.. no CEL YET.. lol
anyway, car sounded good, revved fine. went to drive off, manual mode, tried to hit the gas and the car sputtered, almost like it had no fuel. Did this several times... Car did not have ANY dash lights come on etc.. just when i punch it, it sorta cuts out. Right now i left it at the mech, until tomorrow.. what could this be? currently shitting bricks, as the car has 450 miles on it. Is the car just acting funny because the air intake is more/less, is there a teach in time where i have to run the car for a little then it will be fine... any suggestions?? |

Funny I had my downpipes installed today too, sounds amazing and the car feels insane. Maybe there's a boost leak of some sort? Did you tune the car? If you don't have a tune that can very well be the problem.

Did they reconnect the O2 sensors back up?
Sounds like they didn't reconnect something.

Ya I hope it's something simple bud!
You would think so but who knows. Maybe some of the vendors that have installed them will chime in.

Whatever it is hold your installer responsible since BMW won't fix it if it has something to do with the DP install.

Doesn't the dealer unlock or change something after the 1200 mile break-in? I recall reading about that somewhere. I don't know since I purchased used, but perhaps catless DP are a bit too early??

No other changes are made other than an engine oil change and differential oil change.

my advice is, if you are contemplating doing downpipes, do it. You hear the turbo spool, car sounds sick! Some people may not be able to bear the cold start though, it's a little obnoxious. You can get it removed, but if you hate your neighbors, leave it. |
