No locking at all. I didn't hit the brakes to the point where the ABS would kick in. Just hard enough to come to a nice smooth and controlled stop in a short distance.

Fortunately, I haven't had the pleasure of hearing it from the outside. Considering the fact that I could hear it nearly every stop with the windows up (and not to mention music also playing), it must be REALLY loud on the outside...I've driven by construction zones with what-would-have-been blaring tools had I kept my windows even cracked slightly. With them closed, I couldn't hear a single sound, that is, until I started to brake Quote:

I see all these posts were from 2015. I'm not seeing a solution here. Mine only squeals after about 20 minutes of driving. The first 20 minutes braking light to hard pressure there is no squeal whatsoever. But after 20 minutes, light braking (such as coming to a stop light) and it squeals and is so embarrassing. Sometimes I will change my braking pressure by coming in hard (unnecessarily) just so the cars in the next lanes don't hear the squeak. LOL A friend of mine who works on cars (literally builds racing engines etc) told me I should downgrade the brake pads. Even the dealerships in Southern California (where each associate gives you a different answer) said that it's the material. So maybe if it's possible to downgrade that may work then. My wife's other BMW (F10 16' 550i) does not squeal at all. So I read the other post where the guy is saying it's because the F10 M5 is a heavy high performance car... that just makes no sense at all. It has nothing to do with the weight of the vehicle. He does not understand the squeal everyone is talking about here. Yes high performance brakes squeak a bit intermittently from time to time due to conditions but that is not the same as this issue.

I had front brake squeaking with oem pads, switched to Carbotech same issue....switched to these Powerstop pads designed to prevent squeaking and issue has been solved for 1 year+......also way less brake dust

Same here.
Originally went w/ Cool Carbon and now Powerstop on the fronts w/ zero noise or squealing. Akebono rears. Minimal dust.

Brake rotors and pads are both under warranty. I had the rotors replaced due to cracking.
