Suspension button not doing anything, weird?

went to test drive a high mileage 2013 M5. car drove pretty solid and everything seemed to work with the exception of the suspension button, did not show any values changing on the dash (steering and drivetrain did).
is this normal? is it an option of some sort that the car didnt have? red flag?

im kind of wondering now if they've been coded out?

Good guess, check the shocks and springs to see if there is any indication that they are aftermarket (spring color, asjustable coilovers). Also check the engine bay at the top of the strut tower for the EDC connector. If they are missing, as you said, it could be coded out. Check the red marked parts in pic.
