And only about 6 weeks for you......

I was in the first allocation for a NY dealer and would have had my car in Aug. Now will only be seeing her on 9/1 only to wait another 6+ weeks to get her home
Am saving a bunch though

Just think of the overall experience being one of the 22 US M5's being delivered at the Welt that day. At least you have a 9am pickup. I have to wait until 220pm. Imagine watching everyone pickup their cars and having to wait. It's like being picked last on the team in grade school.

Yes, but there's the cost of the trip plus all the extra transit risks plus you have to pay before seeing in what shape the car arrives at the dealership. Not an obvious choice to make...

$1500 for a plane ticket, $750 on hotels and $750 on good food. The experience of picking up a new M5 on "D-Day" with 22 others...priceless.

When you are pulling out from your dealer you can get hit too! Cant always worry about what if.

Not an obvious financial choice with regular ED granted, but with the deal a bunch of us got, it is BOTH a fincancial choice and an experience choice. I've done this before and am doing it again, if that means anything. Also, 1 pmt made by BMW while the car is on the water.
FYI. my wife's 335 was damaged on the ship coming over doing US delivery. Stuff happens.............

My ticket was only $1200 cattle class...........$108 Marriott. Going cheap.

I know that very well from experience. I refused US-delivery cars twice due to transit damage. My point is that you can do that with US-delivery, but not with ED where the risks of damage are even higher.

A wash for me for the amount of time I'd have to take off of work to make ED happen. But agree that the experience itself has inherent value =)

I don't think any ED Customers will see a start to production until early August. No reason to have cars sitting in a warehouse chewing up space and costing them money.

More importantly I don't want my car to get accidentally scratched/dented

That's great news. Did your dealer say how long from the time it hits the US dock to dealer

I was just informed by the dealership that they will likely hold it at the port until release for the September 1st launch.
