fits the thread title, yet sorry for the slight

As a favor to your 1M fellows, in all the testing of this SS, can somebody please check on the visibility of the F10 M5 shifter knob BMW part number.

Much appreciated.

Edit: Never mind, found it :25112284205

I just got the proto type installed for those who are still waiting. Installation was a breeze and functionality seems great so far. Slightly noisier than stock but that is to be expected. I am going to test it a few more days then report back to IND. Seems like a noticeable upgrade and a must for 6MT.

Its a small market so If there is any interest post up to get this ball rollin!!!!

Definately a very good idea

I just did ED a week ago (http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=797393) and now waiting the long 6-8 weeks for it, I only drove the car for about 280kms so I will need more time to decide if indeed I would like to have a short shifter....but based on the fact that in my e39 M5 I installed a Dinand SS, I would most likely do the same...

IND is there going to be any issues of driving with the SS in the cold? I know the Porsche SS kit had a lot of challenges in the cold.

The shifter itself will not encourage difficulties in shifting in the cold, as the polyurethane bushings used in the shifter still provide excellent freedom of movement in cold weather.

The F10 M5 manual transmission and it's lubricant will still behave better in relatively warm weather than in extreme cold temperatures. A manual transmission's behavior is indirectly linked to the driver's hand via the shift linkage, so even with a completely original BMW shifter and transmission the shift feel will be a bit more "sluggish" when the transmission is cold in extremely cold weather. Once the engine and trans warm up from a bit of driving, shift feel will return to normal.

As an overall update:

Thanks to KyleK13 we have confirmed that the prototype design functions as it should, and submitted our final production order to Rogue Engineering. We will update M5Post as we approach the delivery date of the first production run.

This is AWESOME for you 6MT guys! I drove one the other day for a few hours as part of a favor the dealer did for me to test something and I could not believe how long the throws were. Exactly the same as my old 08 550i. My DCT felt much more crisp because of it. The SS will make a HUGE difference in the 6MT. Kudos to IND.

Especially the first two gear. The throw is just so long. Also too notchy as well.

Can't wait for ss

Won't installing the short shifter invalidate the warranty? Also, who would be a recommended installer or is it something that we can asked any garage/car shop to do?
