What make even less sense is that Citrine is currently £1700 on a non-M 5 series and Citrine & Ruby are currently a £1120 option on a pre-LCI non-M 6 series. As the 5 & 6 series are made on the same production line, this pricing structure is, IMHO, completely illogical. When I enquired in 2013, there wasn't a std list price for all special order indy colours on the M5, some were in the £3K region, some £5-6K and nothing returned on PMS. All required approval, so nothing guaranteed; although it does help building a relationship with one dealership rather than chasing max discount at other dealers; both of my Moonstone F10s arrived ~6 weeks from ordering. Agreed on Mineral - I would definitely spec that at std metallic prices, however, no cost on a 535d Luxury, but ~£3K on a 535d M Sport or M5, with Brilliant at £5-6K - this is why I stuck with Moonstone for ~£1K (was the same price for an M Sport or M5 in 2013). Several years ago I was offered an E90 335i stock car in Ruby Red. This was a ~£800 option on the E90 at the time (max discount, so, in effect, I wasn't paying for the upgrade to Ruby); almost bought it for the colour alone! Stock car at 90 day write-down is the best way to buy an Indy colour, only problem being that my dealership doesn't order Moonstone for stock cars as customers aren't willing to pay extra for 'silver'. And I doubt any dealership will order a stock car in PMS, which does in-turn secure it's exclusivity. Indy options can do worse than this - they can be worth less than a similar car in a std metallic. Last edited by Dionysus; 01-03-2015 at 07:05 AM.. |

Excellent comparing PMS and Silverstone.
Only lacking Glacier Silver so that it was more detail. It is clear the difference between these 2 paintings. Silverstone is lighter and slightly bluish. Pure Silver Metal is subtly darker as a very light shade of gray. Me too I really like the silver cars, its image reflects modernity. Both colors are great, could buy them, because they look great on this car. Glacier Silver also pleases me much though as it is a standard color is not as special as Pure Metal Silver and Silverstone. And my order of preference is: 1. Pure Metal Silver. 2. Silverstone. 3. Glacier Silver. |

Lol.
At least someone picked up on my ridiculous post. I figured such a ridiculous thread deserved such a response.

PMS looks like a really nice colour.
Although I'm sure (ok, maybe not SURE, but I would like to believe) that the BMW paint quality is better and more complex, it seems similar in concept to the "Billet Silver" colour on my wife's Chrysler 300S. Although that colour has a pinkish vs blueish base, it looks very wet and chrome-like when clean. When dirty, it looks like any other silver. It's a colour I'd definitely pay a premium for, I guess how much would depend on how thick my wallet was! Beautiful cars, all!

I like it. It gives off the nice clean silver look next to the SS paint. this would hurt your eye looking at this car a long period of time outside under the sun. this paint just reflect light like no tomorrow!! Great color.
