Loss of traction - advice please

I am experiencing a strange phenomenon with my M5 (reminiscent of my experience with my 07 MB E63, when I had issues with the air suspension and it started handling like a Buick). The car feels 'floaty' and there is a delay in the steering sharpness. As result, it doesn't feel safe to drive at HWY speeds because the steering is so vague and it feels like I might loose control of the car… I checked the tire tread and there is plenty left (10K miles now). What could it be? I was thinking it's an alignment issue, but I haven't hit anything (a big pothole, curb, etc.). I haven't checked tire air pressure but the car would have alerted me if air was low.

Any ideas?

Thanks.
