So, just bought the Dinan exhaust at BMW dealership

I had my car in for it's 12,000 mile oil and filter change and decided to see if there was any exhaust upgrades available from BMW now that they have the better sound on the competition package. Turns out Dinan just came out with an M5 exhaust and it was on sale for $3399 this month. So I ordered it with chrome tips. We will see.

Apparently Steve Dinan made a trip to this dealership last week and told them that the M5 tune is underway and it will be a piggyback module. It should be out before the end of he year. The service guy is getting a tune for his '13 335 from Dinan and it is also a piggy back. He says it's not the same as the other external jobs as it's a digital module.

So I guess we will see. I bought the exhaust to give me a reason to hang on to the car a little longer. The last time I bought a Dinan tune it was last March for my 2010 535 and then I ended up getting this m5 in May so maybe I will end up with a new P car in July but I would like to have it in addition to my m5. Just not sure how I will deal with the garage issues since I only have a two car garage.

Nice - I look forward to your review of the Dinan exhaust, and thanks for the info on the piggyback they're working on.

With regards to your garage, you live in Texas - just build a couple more bays!

LOL!!!!

It's not quite like that here in my neighborhood. If I had the room, I could do that and certainly, it's common in small towns but not where I live.

Here is my setup.

With regards to your garage, you live in Texas - just buy next door house and convert to extra garages.

I'd be parking the X5 outside on the driveway. Lol! Unless it's his wife's and everyone knows you have to make the wife happy.

I'd be VERY surprised if the Dinan piggyback comes in anywhere near the BMS price point.

It won't be. In fact there's been speculation and conspiracy theory that Dinan was the one who "tattled" on BMS to the CARB. Companies like Dinan spend A LOT of money on getting their products certified by CARB for sale in California, that's also why the prices are higher. I still wouldn't pay over what BMS charges for their module though.

Yes, it's the wife's and that is the plan but I still have to get the other car and it's premised on a good frac job for my oil well out in Orla. That is why I am familiar with Orla in case anyone is wondering. I own three sections out that way. One of them is right in Orla with some really old stripper wells on it. The one with the oil is 11 miles to the west in Culberson County, Orla is in Reeves county.

The frac was supposed to start this weekend but it's been rescheduled now for the 31st. In the meantime, the operator is trying to get us to do a different pipeline ROW than what we had in the lease. It's always something with these oil deals. Anyhow, if the well turns out like the one next to it, I can buy a 911 Turbo S with my first royalty check which would arrive in August I guess. Of course I could write a check for it now but that wouldn't be fiscally sound so I will wait for the royalty check to arrive first.

Here is a map from the RRC of the Cimarex well which produced 1250 boe/day initially with about 700 of that as NGL and mine which is the Scott Fee 36. I am also including pictures of two water wells that are on that section and which got illegally drilled by Cimarex. Thanks to them, I own two water wells since 2011 right near that intersection you can see on the map. I drove out there in the old X5 once and the 535 the second time. Neither car can get down the roads you see in the pictures. It takes the truck or something like it.

This might be more like the Texas you non-Texans imagine.

Interesting oil talk. Incidentally, is the grass to the left of your driveway artificial?

No, it's real grass, St. Augustine. That picture was taken a year ago and the grass is always greenest in May. It's almost that green right now. Here are two updates taken today.

Are you able to put a 4-post lift in your garage? That would make it possible to add a third car.

I don't know. I saw that in another thread on here and was wondering about the suitability. My garage roof is only 8ft I think. In the house we have 9 ft ceilings but the garage is lower. In addition, I have a center garage door opener. Might be worth looking into though. Ultimately, it's likely to be the X5 sitting outside.

However, my wife is hounding me about moving to Westlake. The neighbors behind us are noisy as hell. The guy has kids the same age as my middle two kids ( mid 20s now) and they are out of the house and out of college finally. Just when we thought no more loud and late parties in the pool, he gets remarried to a woman with young kids. The oldest is a boy in 7th grade and he and his buddies are already out at the pool cranking up the noise machine. So who knows how this will all sort itself out. I really don't want to move because this house is in an ideal location and we have lived here 17 years now.

BMS is in the process of submitting their tunes for CARB approval so they can sell them within California as on-road performance parts rather than competition race only parts as they have in the past. It's not as expensive as you'd think. A few thousand dollars per model.

I get a real kick out of Dinan jumping in to the piggyback market now. Their flash tuning was behind the times compared to what other flash companies like GIAC and Cobb offered. BMS, Vishnu, and other companies have been doing piggybacks for years now. I doubt Dinan can catch up quickly.
