Engine Temp Difference based on throttle setting

I noticed today that when I run my throttle in efficient mode the engine temp is between 210-220F. But in Sport or Sport+ the engine temp drops to 175-180. Is this for fuel efficiency reasons, sort of like EcoPro mode in the 528?

Post Edited:

I stand corrected, in Sport + my temps drop 30 degrees!! The other 2 modes its variable and act the same.

I've confirmed. I tested it in traffic and also 60MPH highway speed. (60F) In NON-M's the ECOPRO mode does a similar function as a higher engine temp makes the engine more fuel efficient.

I initially noticed it with the oil temp gauge and then plugged in my M performance Drive Analyzer to confirm.

I know on my 335i (N54) you could tell when it used the oil cooler or not.. Temp would rise to a point, then drop a bunch. I wonder if the modes here change at which set point it uses the oil cooler.

The pump for the water charge cooler is only working full time (100 % of the time) in Sport +

In the other modes it only really kicks in when temps get really high.

The temperature of the chargecooler water is not going to have any effect on the oil temperature of the car, which is what the OP is referring to.

Fair enough, but I couldn't agree to "ZERO effect" I could agree to negligible effect, and I was really just referring to this post :

I also notice the same behaviour. Perhaps the oil cooler has a valve / thermostat that opens to improve / maximise its efficiency in Sport + ?

All modern BMW engines run variable temperatures.
Its controlled via the ECU

Higher temperature for better fuel economy, lower temperature for more power
