What does the F10 M5 sound like?
That's the question, my friend posed to me the other day but I struggled to explain it or more specifically what it compared to; noise wise.
How would you guys describe the noise? |

I was told that my car sounds like a jet. (aftermarket exhaust).

It depends.
It ranges from an elephant with bad congestion to a pissed off hellcat to a Ferrari to a jet engine, depending on the type of exhaust.

Honestly to me with the downpipes and muffler delete the car has ferrari moments but also lotus esprit moments. And the 4cylinder one! It's almost like the car doesn't have an xpipe and you only hear one bank at a time. But it's very intoxicating with the sound of the turbos and the thunder clap that can wake the dead.
A couple vids:

Mine has the Comp Pack and the sound is truly intoxicating above 4,000 RPM. Closing in on red line, it does in fact remind me of some Ferraris I have been in. I wish it was louder at lower RPMs, but it is more of a Gentleman Cruiser down low. I still think the good folks at M branch need to take the sound up a notch with the next-gen M5, but it is one helluva car regardless. Third gear is the wild child (when all the traction kicks in) and the power and sound converge. A driving epiphany!

Have to disagree I'm afraid. The E63 sounds like a V8TT or at least how I would expect a v8tt to sound like.
Quite like RPIM5's description. Anyhow thanks to those above who have now cost me more bloddy money as I need a comp pack exhaust! |
