Valentine 1 Radar Hardwire-not off sunroof

I plan on hard wiring my Valentine 1 radar detector after work today. I need to stop by the auto part store to pick up a fuse tap kit. There is a nice write up in the DIY section on tapping it off the sun-roof; however, I want to see if there is a way to tap it off one of the fuses in the glove dept. I have done this successfully in the F01 750 and in the e92 m3.

Can you advise which fuse I can work off of? The car is fully loaded except for night vision and rear entertainment. Thanks guys

I do know it's possible to tap a fuse in the glove.

I would recommend using the sunroof though. Less wiring to route / seems like a cleaner install option?

Im afraid of breaking any tabs when I remove the plastic housing off the sunroof.

As mentioned above, it's very easy to remove the light housing.

Running a power cable from the fuse box up to the V1 would be much more of a challenge as that A pillar has an airbag. Also would hate for you to ruin that alcantara!

54 or 48. 54 (bigger fuse) turns off in about 10 minutes, 48 (small size fuse) goes off immediately. Have 1 hooked up to my bel stir+ and the other to LI.

Just use 2 - 5 amp fuses, cause those taps are not suppose to go any higher. 54 is a 20, 48 is a 5

I hooked up a dash cam and V1 to the rearview mirror. You don't have to pull any panels. Super easy:

Just the little connector behind the mirror.

Just finished the install. I ran the wire from the mirror to down the a pillar to the fuse box in the glove department. Wore nitrile gloves to protect alcantara from getting dirty/damaged. Tapped it off the lane departure fuse and used two 10 amp fuse. Tried with one 10amp on the fuse kit, but the lane departure would keep turn off so I added the second 10amp fuse to the fuse tap kit (has two slots). Seems to work perfectly without issues.

Now I need to swap out those front and rear reflectors with IND's painted ones...

I second this. Just plug it in and hide the cables, totally reversible in like 5 minutes. Plus you don't get bombarded with alarms every time you drive into a supermarket parking lot.

Those fuse tap kits have two fuses because one of for the original circuit and one is for the second circuit you are adding

Yeah you did it right, you just need to have both fuse sockets filled because otherwise one of the two circuits won't work. If both sockets have fuses in them should work
