Coding? Why BMW left out so many cool things!

Why is it that I pay $100,000 for a car , then have to find someone to unlock all kinds of goodies. Like power close trunk from remote, windows going back up with remote, mirrors folding in when doors lock, and most annoying is the tire pressure monitor that doesn't tell me the pressure . . Does anyone no if this coding stuff voids warranty.
Btw I love the car it just doesn't make sense!

Is coding able to give the TPMS the ability to show actual pressures?

Yea, another member has done this. See this thread for a picture:

Anyone looking to do some DIY coding, here are instructions and discussions:

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=696777

You will also find in the discussions many of the cool features that can be achieved with coding.

Coding shouldn't void warranties since it's just changing options that BMW has already built into the software but never provided a normal interface for managing, and the coding options can't be used for things like tuning the engine. Some of those features (like closing the windows from the fob) are disabled only in the US because of our litigious nature; I'm sure someone closed their windows without looking and pinched their kid's fingers and somehow feels that's BMW's fault for designing an unsafe car.

Folding the mirrors when locking the doors I agree is handy, but given how many threads I've seen about busted mirror motors, I'd rather be able to use them only when I actually need to.

Not showing actual tire pressure and temp is odd, I wonder if it's because they couldn't get the sensors to provide readings that were sufficiently reliable/consistent/accurate so they decided to hide it?

If power trunk close can be coded that means there is a motor in all f10 m5s trunk apparatus? Couldnt i just have all these programmed at delivery?

Is there a button for power folding mirrors? Or its just manual?

If anybody in the Bay Area needs coding done, PM me. I was one of the first to start playing with the F10 chassis and there's tons of potential.

were you able to do the auto highbeams?

The other thing I would be interested in is Auto-H. In the M5 when you take your foot of the brake, it holds the parking brake for a couple of seconds or until you apply throttle, whichever occurs first. It would be good to extend that to holding it until you apply throttle (i.e. indefinite hold until throttle applied).

Its on the drivers side, left hand portion of the foot well on the underside of the dash. Basically open the door and stick your head in the footwell look up and you can't miss it.

Yep. They do work. Sensitivity seems a bit less than the 550, but that might just be because I'm in the city now and there's lots of extraneous lights around that could keep it from activating.

I ordered the new stalk. I hope it works.

I've never had an issue. I'm sure BMW would prefer you didn't make any tweaks but the fact of the matter is you're just enabling functionality that already exists in the car's software.
