SG vs SS2
A dealer is offering me an SG m5.....
Never seen one in flesh? Any thoughts on from anyone seeing the colour in life? Also there another car (silverstone colour), the price is about the same and specs to. I can't make up my mind about witch colour to go with....its a nice problem to have some might say but it is screwing my head. There are in different locations not near me so I don't have the luxury of comparing them side by side. Leaning forward do ss2 as I think it's an easier colour to maintain and I'm a bit anal about the cleanliness of my car. Or is SG not to bad to maintaine? Cheers. |

Singapore or Space? I'd take either over SSII - space gray is very unique and attractive. Singapore is a chameleon - looks black and then various shades of gray, sometimes greenish, in various lighting conditions.

My vote is Singapore, it's a close 2nd to Alpine White for me. I personally dont like the light blue tint of SS, but would jump all over Titanium Silver.
I dont think you should pick a color just based on ease of maintenance, that will only lead to regret. Chances are with this car, you will keep it pristine most of the time. More importantly, what are their respective interior colors?

Silver is such boring color IMO. I would chose Singapore all day, very dark but not "too" dark and makes the M5 look really aggressive and stealthy.

Same combo color as mine except I got the anthracite trim.

Look at my ED blog linked in my sig for many many pics of Silverstone with that exact interior
I highly recommend that color if maintenance is an issue for you... I also have a black sapphire metallic 335 for my wife and her car is way more challenging to keep clean, hide/prevent swirls, it shows dust, etc. If I went on looks alone, I would get a frozen car or azurite black metallic since they are my current faves (cp wheels and original trim pieces look amazing on dark colors IMHO). But because I am anal about keeping my cars spotless, my next M5 will most likely be a lighter metallic again, so I am not spending very night wiping it down.

I will echo what many have said. I loved the SG: an amazing color that has so many different personalities in different lights. But I am also quite anal about cleaning my cars and I was afraid of the dark color, so I went with Space Grey. Do you want to be able to cheat and hit the car with a California Duster really quickly? I tend to do that the day after a wash if the car has picked up just a little dust in the garage. With SG, I wouldn't dare do it because of fear of swirl marks. Of course, you could go SG and wrap the entire care in Xpel.

Both colours look nice/interesting.i dont want mc blue as thats what i have now on my m3.deffo not black...for me its just hides the curves to much.white just reminds me of Audis when they really started to push the white topic here in europe.
Now that i have a daughter i dont have as much time to storke my car as much and i rather spend time with her anyway.but cant stand dirty cars even if it rains a lot here(uk). But something like ss2 would suit my time/weather factors more i think at the moment. The one thing that goes for me for dark colours is that it makes the m5 look smaller. |

Yes its nice, its new colour, when its clean and its sunny it looks awesome, but during grey-rainy days and when its dusty its nothing special... To each his own of course! I am not defending SSII, i always wanted to get MCB or SO, but i got amazing deal on SSII, so i went for it and no regrets |

I have to say that I love my SG with Silverstone interior. As others say it just looks classy to me, and the light interior (even though a pain to keep clean) puts a smile on my face. This colour also does not grab attention, so remember that if you are looking to turn heads, you won't get it with this colour. The few close up shots detail the 'hidden' colours that make up the SG gray look. But if you see this colour at night you'd be hard pressed not to think it's just black.

But went with the SILVERSTONE in the end. Here in the UK I would love the run a dark car but the weather is not in favour of that. BTW I think it's awesome in any colour....I just can't wait to see the something red.....like the red line. |
