TPM for Canadian M5

Since the Canadian models M5) don't have active TPM H/W I was wondering if I buy the TPMS from bimmian will it work.

http://www.bimmian.com/Tire-Pressure...W-F10-5-Series

Can someone explain how it works? My understanding is that TPMS H/W transmit the info and the car has to receive it and display it on iDrive (this feature must be enabled by coding)

Any explanation will be very helpful

why would you need this ?

The f10 uses indirect flat tire monitor system (built into the ABS to monitor for variances in wheel rotation) for Canadian model. Even if you buy the TPMS and put into the wheel, it will not register anything in your car.

Go and confirm with your dealer service & parts dept. For my 2013, I don't need to buy this TPMS.

Thanks, that was my question; even I install the H/W and get the car coded to show the tire pressure and temp will it work? I will check with BMW as well

Unlikely. I could be wrong but certainly I do not understand why you would want to spend like $400+ to get the tpms and valves and then code them and then it winds up they do not even register on your car because the Cdn model can only show the FTM (4 green tires with no readings)

Better spend the $ elsewhere.

I am going to try this and see what happens. While my car was being coded I had this feature turned on. I just need to install the sensors. I will do it when I replace the rear tires probably next spring. I picked up a nail in one of the tires and for now it is holding air.

^ besides the each individual tpms in the wheels, you will also need a sensor receiver to be mounted in the trunk (as typical setup in the E60).
