Satellite Radio Isssue
Hi All,
I have a couple questions about the Sat radio, in my buddies f10 m5, we could not figure out. He just took delivery of a 2013 model, with the "new" generation idrive - updated version from the idrive in my 2012 135i. First off, everytime the vehicle goes in sleep mode, and we restart it, the radio station goes back to Channel 184 (Sirius Preview channel). It is setup for a 1 year free subscription. In my car if I leave it on a channel it reverts back to that channel the next time I turn it on, rather than go back to 184. Anyone else experience this? From the sat radio screen, I also noticed there is an option to "enter channel", however, nothing occurs when we attempt to enter it (just stays on 184) - picture attached. Another thing it does, that mine does not, is when in a call via bluetooth - once the call has ended it goes to channel 184 as opposed to back to the last channel we were listening to. Finally - when I pick up the phone via bluetooth, and subsequently reroute the call to my handset, the radio does not come back on, whereas it did on the previous gen idrive? Anyone else notice this stuff?

I have the same problem with my Sirius as well. When I picked up the car, it worked fine and then a few days later it stopped working and I had to call Sirius to start my 1 year trial. Ever since then, it always goes back to 184. Anyone know how to set it to stay on last channel?

Weird! I haven't had that issue, but have you noted poorer sound quality with the satellite radio than with standard radio or iPod use? I find the satellite sound quality to be tinny on every single station. Any thoughts??

Satellite Radio definitely sounds lower quality than any other form of music in the car - other than AM radio. I don't believe this has anything to do with the vehicle's sound system - rather it has to do with technology Sirius/XM uses or fails to use for that matter.
Only thing I use Sirius for is to Shazam new songs that I like, and then add them to my Rdio playlists which I stream at high quality via an aux cable to the car...

I was a huge Rdio fan for a long time. You gotta try Mog though...much better audio quality. Plus it works with BMW ConnectedDrive.

I had to call XM to reset my radio after it lost all of the channels last week. They reset it and it appears to be working now. I still gotta try that MOG though. I'm wondering if it uses the phone's 4G connection or if it uses the car's satellite radio reciever.
