CPO on 2012 m5

Looking at getting a 2012 m5 with 42,000kms. Always get conflicting numbers on CPO pricing, some dealers say it's fixed other says it's not.

On my 2012 x6m purchase they charged me 3200 for CPO, on the 2014 m6 gran coupe with 40,000kms I was dealing on they wanted 3250.

On this 2012 m5 they want 5800 for the CPO. I think they are just trying to get more money outta me.

Any insight?

In Canada, for the M5, +2 yrs or +80,000km extended factory warranty retail price is $6300 + taxes. Therefore, you are quoted $500 discount on it.

Not bad - I'd try and get them to reduce on the price and try and get a little off the CPO price.

No. That's way too much.

If this is included with the Exec package option, the fair price offering I feel should be around $60K at most + taxes + 2 yrs factory extended warranty included.

I sold my 2013 M5 (In service Aug 2012) back to the dealer for $70K close to 2 yrs ago and then in turn they marked it up almost 30% and list for $89,000 and the car sat at the dealer for some 6 months before I noticed it was gone ( ... off from their used inventory website).

from my estimate. Looks like the dealer paid around $50K for the car and tag on 30% markup on it. Therefore, in theory, the asking price should already include the CPO (+2 yrs extended warranty) to begin with. If you are saying $65K + CPO warranty price, then the dealer is double dipping on their listing.

For this kind of over the top asking price, you may want to consider getting a MY 2016 M3 instead with lightly optioned and you will get more bang for your $.

My rationale was bring the car down to $63... and then CPO $3.5 = Out the door at $66.5K.
Assuming as mentioned that it is loaded. The 2013 - are ranging from mid 60's to mid 70's but just because they ask that, does mean they're going to get that. 14's are up in the 80's and 90's. Fine 2014 saw some improvements - but still a big jump. Maybe look at a 2013 instead and negotiate lower.

^ exactly the same scenario on the '14 example. 2 yrs old car and selling at mid to high $80K's, thus meaning, the person did the trade in got about $70K on the car at most.

Is this link available for the US market? I'm looking at a 2014 from a non BMW dealer and looking to go to BMW to get the extended warranty put on.

Thanks!
