I gave up after several tries - not a huge deal simply to have a clicker...

I use it everyday. I forgot the exact procedure.
I think you need to press button 1 and 3 and hold to reset homelink. Then press and hold which button you want to program, it will start blinking, press the garage door remote button after start blinking orange or red.
Then you have to link the garage door opener(motor part). Should be a learn or program button on the box somewhere. Press that button, should start blinking in learning mode, then press the button inside your car you programmed, should sync and garage door will close.

It's something like that, at least how I remember doing it.

i have mine done and my last 13 as well..

if its an old garage opener w out rolling codes then simply press your clicker and the mirror button same time while faceing garage and it'll blink slow then when learned slow

if its a newer one w rolling codes (most are nowadays) go to back of motor press the red button (usually says learn button) you should get a solid light come on the motor then quikly get in car w it facing the garage and motor and hold the mirror button should blink slow then fast when learned!

suck's to learn but once you understand you'lll understand lol

you only have to press 1 and 3 buttons on mirror if you wanna delete all stored garages and clear its memory

by press those two buttons on mirror for like 30-45 secs it erases everything

When doing all of this make sure the car is also on accessory mode or else it won't work.

Just follow the manual for your garage door opener and it will work. Every time I was frustrated swearing at a car it turned out to be a user error or user impatience...

Actually mine programmed very quick, I actually made the comment "well that was easy." My CTSV was a pain to program and it wouldn't program my new garage door for some reason no matter what I did. With the M5 both doors programmed in less than a minute.

I've always used this function without issue; manual has procedure which is straightforward as others have commented.

Thanks for all the help. I've tried several times but couldn't get it to work. I had given up a couple years ago but tried again a few days ago and still no luck. You would think after 4.4 years of having this car I would have gotten it to work. The garage motor is new. Only a year old. I'll try it again today. Thanks guys.
