The Megaplant in Washington State that is producing all of the CFRP for the BMW i Program will also be used to make all of the CFRP for the future 3, 5, and 7 series.

So right now we are pretty much guaranteed that we will have a Gxx M5 with more power and a curb weight of not more than 4167lbs. Also we will learn a heck of a lot more about the next generation 5-Series architecture when the next generation 7-Series is unveiled soon. BMW has already stated that the next 7-Series will be lighter than today's F10 5-Series. This is also the reason why the ///M7 is coming.

good points . i may have to come back... ...but not likely.

Are electric turbos the future?

Looks like Audi, Ferrari, and Mercedes are developing electric turbo technology for their future cars. On today's ///M cars, it seems like turbo lag has gone the way of the Dodo bird, but on all of the regular BMW's, turbo lag still exists to an extent at least.

I wonder if BMW will start to use electric turbos in the future too?
