Turbo Coolant hose replacement
I had a really slow leak from 2 out of 4 of my turbo coolant hoses, also my factory heat wraps were destroyed inside from the slow leak, and tore at the buttons.
I upgraded to high temp silicone. Instead of the oetiker clamps I used fuel injection hose clamps which worked perfectly. I refused to get the OEM heat wrap, so instead I used some DEI wrap. Nice work!
Try to remember to check back if you get a leak or especially if you don't after a year or so. |

Very nice thanks for posting. I think it's a much better repair than what bmw was doing. Also good call on the fuel injection line clamps, they are the right ones to use. I don't know why people use the worm style clamps on these hoses, they literally cut into the hose as you tighten them. This should be a nice long term fix. Happy holidays!

Is there oil or coolant coming thru these lines? because that type of hose in their description says
“Silicone hose is NOT compatible with fuel or oil; however, it is compatible with water and anti-freeze such as coolant.” |

Should be a 15-17mm clamp rather than a 14-16mm. I ordered everything as described. However, we're having a hard time (actually impossible) to slide the clamp over the hose while connected to the turbo line. Will have to use regular clamps until I get the correct ones. |

I don't know. That's crazy. I tried that as well. In fact I loosened them just about all the way off the threads and it still didn't work. I gave it a rest and will try again later.

Try this, put the clamps closer to the middle of the hose slide the hose over the tube end first and then slide the clamp over the hump. That's how I did it. It probably won't go if you have the clamp at the end of the hose and try to slide it over that way.

No draining required but make sure the engine is cold before doing it.

The system is self bleeding although you will want to fill and keep an eye on the level after the first start and keep filling the reservoir so you don't run it dry for too long. The electric water pumps have a preservation mode and will just turn off if they speed up in RPM too much (ie, sucking air not liquid) so it's hard to damage anything.

I love posts like this. Especially when OEM design fails. Fix it better.
Ill be doing this "when" I get a leak. Maybe just proactively do it. Cheap enough. |
