This is good.

The waiting will be painful. Glad this actually happened over there. If you didn't do the ED, this may happen over here.

Things are starting to look up.....I got a new production # expecting mid Nov delivery in Ca.
Here we go again.....trying to look at it like a delayed delivery but my car is not stuck at the port.

Good news. Yours will only be a couple of weeks behind ours. You will just have to hurry up with the break in miles so you can get her on track before the rains start in earnest (inasmuch as it ever rains in CA in earnest....)

Hi Barry, sorry to hear about the F10 problems. Do you still have your E39 Beast? Best, Gene.

They have not told me specifically yet however seems like catastrophic engine failure.
And YES thank god I have the Biest, it has kept me from going insane during the initial wait and will help me get through the next couple of months.
I had planned on eating up most of my break in miles there but now will have to do a few So cal runs to eat it up fast so I can go fast soon.

Did you get to change anything with the new-new car? Any options you didn't like first time?

Ok listen to this.......
Per BMWNA I need a new engine because of a "computer problem".

Does this sound plausible?

Computer problems usually have root cause. Sounds like an excuse

Computer controls air/fuel, spark, timing, fuel delivery.... Any one if those can cause catastrophic failure. Usually over a prolonged period of time though....

I thought you said you were getting a new car? Are they trying to play games with you and just replace the engine now?

I am getting a new car but was (still am) adamant to find out what actually happened to my car that resulted in me needing a new engine ( that I refused).
I have week 39 build for Ca delivery.

Hey Barry, I forget which dealer you are going through, I think it may be the same as mine, but can you do a me a favor and ask or make sure that when they build you your new F10 M5 for the second time, that you will confirm, have the dealer confirm, and have BMW confirm that they will put the "Backrest Width" adjustment buttons on your seat for you. I just want to see if they will actually put them in your M5 now that we know they are missing from the 2013 models so far. And if they tell you that you are not allowed to have the buttons, ask them why. Thanks dude!

Oh also, I think that I may be getting my M5 back to San Diego before you get yours back to SoCal, I'll be sure to contact you once I get mine so I can let you drive it or give you a ride or whatever you want. I just want to help you as much as I can. Cheers, bro!
