My F10 M5 Build - European OEM+

I love personalizing my cars. The F10 M5 is no exception. Now that everyone and their grandmother seems to have one, it was clear to me that I needed to start modifying some things to make it unique. So what better way to accomplish this than a near-complete Euro makeover and some terrific aftermarket accessories?

Mods
- HRE 20" P40SC in Matte Gunmetal
- Akrapovic Evolution Exhaust with Carbon Tips
- Manhart Racing Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser (pics coming soon)
- iND Black Cosmetic Package
- BMW M Performance Dark Chrome Side Grilles (only set in the US)
- BMW M Performance CF Spoiler
- BMW M Performance Pedals
- OEM BMW M6 Steering Wheel
- OEM High Beam Assistant stalk, with coding
- OEM European Sunvisors
- OEM ECE-spec Adaptive Bi-Xenon Headlights
- OEM ECE-spec Tail lights
- OEM European front bumper
- OEM Headlamp Switch w/Rear Fog Control
- Complete interior LED swap using 2 OEM Interior LED Kits, plus OEM LED modules from the F30/F12
- OEM Warning Triangle
- OEM First Aid Kit

My car is being featured at Performance Technic's Customer Appreciation Day this Saturday, December 15, in Pleasanton, CA. Stop by if you want to meet me and the M5 in person. My car is also being photographed, so better photos are coming (showing parts I don't have pictures of yet, as well), and I'll update the thread once I have them.

Enjoy!

OEM LED Lighting, plus HBA Stalk, plus Rear Fog Headlamp Switch

Overhead LED Lighting

OEM ECE Rear Taillights with Amber LEDs

OEM ECE Sunvisors

Eisenmann Race Exhaust (only installed for about a week)

Akrapovic Exhaust Installation

M6 Steering Wheel

Akrapovic Exhaust Tips (Carbon Fiber)

M Performance Pedals and Footrest

Your getting the diffuser on soon? It looks gloss black in that photo, can't seem to find pricing on that diffuser. Nice taste of mods, looks great.

Wait...the M6 steering wheel retrofit works? I don't think I ever heard of anyone completing this!

Can you point me to a thread with details - or create a new one? What was cost, any loss of functionality, more pics?

Thanks!!

Looks fantastic. I am curious to see what the M6 wheel will look like in the cabin.

BTW - those look like the Eisenmann 90mm tips. Did you think the Eisenmann 90mm tips were big enough, or is 102mm better?

@Tylerstar - Yes, it's ordered. Just hasn't turned up yet. Was hoping to have it in time for the show but guess not. The painted black OEM version will have to do until then.

@Rob - The retrofit does work. I'm the first person to ever attempt this. That said, I've been fighting with BMW over this and some "ghost" parts that are required that do not exist in any BMW parts catalog. I'm still missing one critical piece, but functionally it does work. Given the amount of research and homework I've put in to this I'm not going to share anything for the time being. (Though you'd likely end up exactly where I am now.) I will say though that the retrofit is around $2,500.

@avi8tir - Possible, but not likely.

@Stealth.Pilot - They are the 90mm tips. I think they were plenty big. The 102mm are just too large for my taste. (I ended up going back to Akrapovic as the Eisenmann was just too loud for a daily driver.)

Thanks for the comments everybody!

I think you forgot one non custom mod - it looks like you changed you trim from Piano to Aluminum.

Great taste in modifications so far! I have always been a fan of the subtle, clean, yet very effective modifications.

Keep up the great build.

You're more than welcome to your opinion. Everything I've done is pretty much readily available on sites like realoem.com and I'm happy to share part numbers, etc. for everything BUT the M6 steering wheel retrofit. There are 2 parts needed that do not exist in BMW's parts catalog and are, for the most part, not available anywhere. But they obviously do exist because they are part of the M6. I have Senior folks at BMW NA and BMW AG working on trying to get me the last, missing pieces. Had you gone through what I've gone through to get to this point you'd probably feel the same way.

Once this is actually complete I'm more than happy to share. Until then I want to keep this under wraps (since I am the first to attempt this) in the unlikely event someone makes more progress than me, or by chance uses the connections I've made to somehow get the parts necessary. That is all.

And you know that other members (like Nate@IND) have withheld part numbers on exclusive parts. I'm not the only one.

Sometimes sharing your work/progress might lead to a faster solution .as others might be able to help with knowledge or alternate sources....
But each their own
In any case good luck....

Seeing the difference, I much prefer the aluminum with sakhir. Nice oem mod.

Thanks. Me too. I think it ties in with the B&O speaker grilles better than the other options.
